Two "trans persons" (according to the weekly DER SPIEGEL) were injured in an attack in Berlin. It appears to be a horrific crime and the perpetrators should be found and brought to justice. However, the article ends by saying that the case is now being handled by national security.
I don't understand why. Either important details are missing, or this is treated as the equivalent of terrorism because of the two victims' trans status. Does anybody know more about this?
