EU LGBTIQ equality strategy for 2026-2030 - call for evidence

Here is the background which gives an indication of the language being used:
https://017ee2dd-4ea6-4d7f-869c-a043485bcc87.usrfiles.com/ugd/526818_70b728f6e1684ab7abdc7ec6f0953508

In this document the legal basis is given as:

  • Articles 2 and 3 of the Treaty on European Union (TEU), which refer to the EU’s values, including equality;
  • Article 10 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU), which provides for an obligation to combat discrimination based on sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation in defining and implementing the EU’s policies and activities;
  • Article 21 of the TEU, which establishes that the EU’s action on the international scene must be guided by the principles which have inspired its own creation, including equality

The consultation portal is here:
https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/14551-EU-LGBTIQ-equality-strategy-for-2026-2030_en
It closes 24th June.

You can view feedback from others on the portal. There is no word restriction. So maybe compose your thoughts in word and then paste them into the form.

It would be good to have some well considered responses from mumsnetters encouraging balancing of needs and prevention of discrimination between groups under Article 10.

Presumably they only want to hear from those in the EU?

I'm in the EU, so thank you for bringing this to my attention!

I like this response.

The new LGBTIQ equality strategy will compound the harm already caused by the current strategy. I decidedly oppose the European Commission encroaching further on areas in which it has no competence. In its promotion of transgenderism in Europe it has overstepped at great cost for the rights of women and vulnerable children. It has invited dangerous men into women's clubs, changing rooms, breastfeeding sessions, gyms, support groups, sport, prisons, etc. It has invited abuse, sexual fetish, voyerism packaged as a fashionable unscientific ideology into the workplace, in classrooms, in educational and medical public institutions. It actively supports and invites the irreversible mutilation of confused, vulnerable youth. This agenda hurts the rights of all European citizens, but above all of women, children and homosexuals. It destroys women's privacy, safety, dignity and free speech rights. It intimidates and bullies everyone who acknowledges biological reality and its societal significance. Women who don't accept that a man in a wig and a dress has suddenly become a woman are called bigoted and phobic! This has gone on for too long. At a time when we need Europe so much, it has done so much to destroy its citizens' trust. It has eroded its own foundations. Reverse course now!

It’s possible as a non EU citizen.
i was going to reference the UK’s link via the human rights act and how we are still European geographically and in many legal matters?

ETA I think the UK is leading the way internationally in working out how to balance rights within the LGBTQ group and between other protected groups. I was going to upload a copy of the SC ruling and asking them to lead the way on balancing rights and encouraging harmony between groups in this next phase. Too much animosity and disrespect due to contested rights between protected groups that need to be resolved before people lose faith in the whole process
