It is going to happen again at the end of next week.

Details:

I hope the women involved drop out. Khelif is not safe.

Women's groups will be protesting the event.

Remember Khelif has still not taken any real legal action or taken another simple test to prove their sex.

Khelif will cause outrage across the world again.

Imane Khelif Set To Defend Title In The Netherlands' Eindhoven Box Cup

Ten months after a controversial gold-medal-winning run in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Imane Khelif is set to return to the ring at the Eindhoven Box Cup next week.

I see many comments BTL along the lines of 'His he him for God sake STOP calling him a her you look ridiculous".

Enough4me · 25/06/2025 13:05

How daft, saying she for a man, like all the pronoun nonsense.
He knows he's a man he confidently sat on his trainers shoulders with his crotch behind the trainer's head when celebrating.

Is there really anything new there, though? It's the same "discredted Russian-led organisation" that every one's supposed to ignore, with a pic of Putin thrown in to make the point if it wasn't obvious enough. He's dead right about Bach, though, he really is a POS.

Madcats · 25/06/2025 15:00

X is saying (GB News, so who knows if it is true) that Imame has been told to return the medal due to “suspicious moments”.

Kirsty Coventry has just become head of the IOC, so perhaps she isn’t buying the “but Imane is female …..because….passport” rubbish spouted by Thomas Bach.

Chersfrozenface · 25/06/2025 15:07

The tweet and website headline say told to return the medal because that's what Kremlev has said he * should do so

*pronoun in line with reality revealed by sex tests

they must all have crystal balls, unlike Imane who has the standard male issue balls.

Um.... no he doesn't. The [in]famous tests from the Paris hospital stated that he does not have standard male issue anything - what he has is not where they should be/not to scale.

I feel bad talking so intrusively about another human being like this, I really do, even IK!
I know it's his own fault etc etc etc., but I am one of the rarities on FWR who has a smidgeon of sympathy for IK, because I do believe he was brought up as a girl, and he was taken up by a ruthless machine to be turned into a national icon and Olympic gold medal fodder.

Obviously he should have had the er.... courage to say to the political and sporting establishment
'The tests say I am not female. No matter what my coaches and medical team say to the contrary, it is morally wrong for me to continue like this. I am retiring forthwith, and am going to return to obscurity and poverty in rural Algeria, a disappointment to my nation and my family.'

He didn't, and you can bet your bottom dollar that he was under immense pressure from all sides to keep playing the game...

I'm afraid my sympathy ends at the point he gets in a ring and batters women who are being forced to participate in that open lie, in a sport where he may quite easily inflict a lifechanging injury or worse. I can't imagine what it must have been like for those women to have to go into a ring with him, with very little way out and the activists screaming. He didn't have to step up with any fear of what those women might do to him.

I'm in the tiny minority who thinks boxing is appalling and should not be treated as a 'respectable' sport.

I think a lot of people would agree with you that two people beating each other up is appalling and should not be treated as a sport.

I confess that I have a spectrum of disapproval:
-amateur boxing is the thin end of the wedge but at least it doesn't last long - three rounds, or four shorter rounds in women's boxing;
-professional boxing is appalling and lasts for 12 rounds;
-MMA is just brutal beyond belief.

But yes, any sport that involves attempting to inflict damage up to and including brain damage aka 'a knockout' on another human being shouldn't be considered a 'sport' at all.

edited to say that other sports involve injuries, sometimes serious, e.g. rugby.
But inflicting injury is the intention in boxing, it is collateral damage in other sports.

Not that tiny; couldn't agree more.

murasaki · 26/06/2025 12:14

I've never quite understood why if headgear is needed at the amateur level, it isn't at professional

I remember watching the Michael Watson fight with my dad. It completely put me off boxing as a sport.

I don't think you are in a minority. Boxing is barbaric.

Namechangeforadearfriend · 27/06/2025 09:25

I heard Katherine Ryan talk briefly about this or maybe another person but same scenario
I do too have a smidge of sympathy if Imane was raised as a girl then some men saw the opportunity to profit from the strength that I think we now know is due to a different mix of chromosomes
We won't know if they were told they weren't regularly built as a female but to see such disparity and believe them self to be to much stronger ? No. It screams of corrupt men deciding that if they can get away with it, they will
Is there a likely scenario where someone genuinely believes they're a woman all their life and suddenly finds they're not who also happens to be an elite athlete when put up against women? Stretches belief. They should not be allowed to compete of course. It's dangerous and though boxing makes me feel ill anyway, this is actually sickening.
