Caroline Darian talking to Jameela Jamil: I'll Never Call Him Dad Again

I'm going to be attending this talk at the Hay-on-Wye Festival. Obviously this is about Caroline, and not Jameela, so I won't say anything, but I do wonder whether Jameela understands that Giselle (and possibly Caroline) would still have been abused had she identified as a man, or queer, or agender. That she was abused because she is female.

If she gives it any thought beyond Being Kind, and I'm Queer (ie Speshull).

I'm disappointed that such a shallow, ignorant woman is interviewing Caroline.

Hi JellySaurus, I'm interested to hear how this talk went at the Hay-on-Wye festival?

Both I and my (unfortunately captured, JJ-adoring) DD wished JJ would shut up and let Caroline speak. Caroline was impressive: emotional yet calm, and shocking. At first JJ was actually a good interviewer, but gradually she not only started answering her own questions, but eventually also those the audience were asking Caroline! And prognosticating from her own vaaaaaaast experience how we should be bringing up our children to prevent such things happening again.

Sorry, she really irritated me and detracted from a fascinating, disturbing and distressing speaker who deserved to be listened to.

I attended this as well. Agree that JJ expanded on a lot of Caroline’s answers, but I felt that this was because Caroline was speaking in English (obviously not her first language), so couldn’t be expected to provide nuanced answers. I actually thought JJ did OK at providing that depth and nuance, and filling in the gaps.
