Totally agree re. the imprisoning the escort. That puts him beyond the pale. Worse than anything he's said about GC feminists. For some reason though that's been 'forgiven' and he rocked up in the public eye as though his opinion should count for something. It says something that it's supporting Jewish people, condemning Hamas, is what gets him cancelled.

it's always been like this, hasn't it. people will say "women are women's worst enemy", as if being a handmaiden is worse than the men actually performing the criminal acts against women. like no, it's the men that are women's worst enemy.

What a knob. As everyone else has said, that he thinks he's got the right to pronounce on the behaviour of others when he's got a conviction for imprisoning a rent boy, tying him to a radiator and beating him with a chain is laughable.

But he thought he could rage bait JKR for the plaudits and LOLs it would bring him and instead she just showed the world what an odious little tick he is.

Yes. He's said plenty of wrong stuff about men too. If it was only heard by men it would still be wrong.

I've been thinking about why BG's conviction for false imprisonment and assault is glossed over - except here, obviously!

Maybe it's because it was attributed to his serious drug dependence at the time, which he overcame and has been, to the best of my knowledge, clean and sober every since - and in fairness, well done to him for doing that.

I get the impression that the assault has been 'tidied away' as part of the the period of drug-fuelled excess that BG has put behind him, and that's why it is not mentioned much. That was the broken BG who did those awful things, this is the clean and sober BG who regrets it.

I'm not saying I agree with this, I'm just saying that I think the 'redemption' aspect of BG's life post drugs is why he isn't constantly confronted with what he did in the past.

It doesn't make him any less obnoxious!

I also think it's because the victim was a sex worker, and they apparently don't matter.
