There's already comments on there about how to try and preserve "DIY" access to cross-sex hormones for children. One adult saying they want children to be sterilised and mutilated so they'll pass better than they the adult will ever be able to.

If they want to convincingly argue that transing children isn't abuse then they're not doing very well.

I think that peaked me as much as anything else. The obvious and cynical campaign to replace 'sex' with 'gender', both as a concept, and the actual words, in proforma, sticks out a mile. The comparisons with Newspeak are obvious. If you have no vocabulary, how can you oppose something? And on top of that, the frankly insulting 'pregnant people' and 'birthing persons' bollix. Just shows malign intent, for me.

I love the claims that banning cross sex hormones for under 18s will mean menopausal women (we'll over 18) won't be able to get HRT with no explanation of why they think a ban on 1 could/would/should affect access to the other

They need to start prosecutions for child abuse.

As a culture we seem to have been elevating mental health issues to a kind of beautiful purity struggling to survive in a hostile world. Being unable to cope with reality or not primed to develop emotional and psychological resilience makes you a victim that everyone else has to look out for and to elevate. It is an idealised state of innocence and one which demands that the needs of the sufferer must be centred at every stage.

Brings to mind that book from a few years ago 'The Coddling of the American mind' which looked at the various social factors and forces which have led to this culture of safetyism.

People seem to feel better when they have a diagnosis...and we are increasingly seeing this with large numbers of people seeking diagnosis for autism and ADHD and for conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress ( PTSD)...and of course, there is always a ready pharmaceutical solution.
