Look East on 'last month's SC hearing on gender identity'

Just watching Look East and I hadn't realised there's been a supreme court hearing on gender identity, can't believe I missed it, I must have been so focused on the hearing that clarified the definition of a women.

But the good old BBC doubled down with their biased report by showing a group of sad trans people followed by some bloke from a cricket club who said the transwomen have the disadvantage in women's cricket, because of the hormones they take.
They did have Kate Barker from LGB Alliance for a one sentence spot of clarity then ended on, fear and phobia for trans people.

Do they truly feel that is balanced reporting? Do we?

I seem to remember Look East being ridiculous in the past on this issue.

Manderleyagain · 19/05/2025 14:14

I've noticed look east doing drip drip pro trans pieces, sometimes a bit bonkers, in the past. I only see it when I'm staying with my parents and it's obvious compared to my regional news.

Is it Essex and East Anglia?

Realityisreal · 19/05/2025 14:23

Yes, East of England.

Look East (via Virgin) is pretty amateurish at the best of times, especially compared with London which we get on the upstairs TV (Freeview).

MrsOvertonsWindow · 19/05/2025 18:54

Just watched this. Nauseating drivel. At least they allowed one woman to speak - the wonderful Kate Barker. But the subsequent allegations of the judgment giving people "permission" to be transphobic and homophobic was predictable.
And as for the cricket "coach?" with his well informed views that based on what he saw, that hormones give these men a disadvantage. Zero evidence - just his feelings.

I'm never sure how many people see through the emotive nonsense?

TheOtherRaven · 19/05/2025 18:59

Women's, gay and lesbian, and women with trans identity law protections not mentioned then? Just the crime of making Men Sad without mention that the sadness is about other people having rights.

Fuck off BBC.

BellissimoGecko · 19/05/2025 19:24

I complained to the BBC about this article yesterday. Bunch of clowns. They are not fit to be our national broadcaster.
