It’s been a while since I last saw everyone!

Welcome to everyone, regulars, lurkers, newly ventured in.

A place for women to discuss whatever takes their fancy, where the bar staff are attentive gerbils, Rosy the Red Panda is available for cuddles and all sweet things have no calories and all alcohol leaves the drinker slightly merry and hangover-free.

The Bluestocking Women's Pub, where brains can exist in a single state | Mumsnet

Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nons...

Sorry to change the subject from Tunnocks, but I fear I hallucinated a thread -

did anybody else see a thread called something like The Drinkers of Rose which was actually about rosé wine, but I was so taken with the The Drinkers of Rose that I wrote a little poem but when I went back to post it, the thread was gone...
or perhaps it was never there and I hallucinated it??
Or did anyone see it?

I saw that briefly yesterday. Has it vanished?

Oh thank you Boily, so I didn't dream it up!

I didn't see it yesterday, I saw it a short time ago, but now it's gone.
Maybe it's orbiting around another thread, and will appear again when it has completed a full orbit..Confused

Boiledbeetle · 17/05/2025 23:03

Found them!

Now if I only knew who took them!

MINE!!! ALL MINE!

It was one of them new folx

<looks at @FarriersGirl >

Apparently a big nasty burglar was trying to take off with my tea cakes during the move so Banned valiantly rescued them for me.

So she says!

They are now safely hidden in my belly mu special hiding place. I've rewarded Banned's bravery with a solitary tea cake.

As an aside... Has anyone seen Sparticus since the move? Do we need to leave trail of Dreamies?

Oh Banned is a trouper!

”I've rewarded Banned's bravery with a solitary tea cake.”

Love it 🤣

Well, it seemed a fair price. For two tea cakes she would have had to produce the cold dead corpse of the burglar.

Swashbuckled · 17/05/2025 23:21

I imagine she settled at one rather quickly.

Found Spartipuss!

That didn't take her long did it! She'll be sleeping off the Dreamies.

I don't mind Tunnocks, but I have the eccentric palate of someone who grew up on Creamola Foam.

inkymoose · 18/05/2025 00:35

Oi new thread, wot? I've been watching Eurovision. Strangely gripping although mind-numbingly repetitive. Zzzzzzz ... sorry fell asleep and missed the move.

PS ... Banned only likes Snowballs ... but I'm not sure that Fuzzy likes any of the Tunnocks offerings. I think she's just watching with mild interest.

What is Creamola Farm?

AsWithGlad · 18/05/2025 00:43

Ah, Cremola Foam! This is an evening of memories.

I was reminded of the National Dress round of Miss World earlier, while watching Eurovision.

AsWithGlad · 18/05/2025 00:52

Cremola Foam and Cremola Custard!

I’m not sure why the writer of this article thinks it was only popular in Scotland, but they do include this excellent line:

Creamola Foam was “Refreshing as a sea breeze” (which, in this country usually means it is violent, intensely salty and will strip the paint off of a car).

SionnachRuadh · 18/05/2025 01:12

As with many Scottish things, it was also a Norn Iron thing.

It seemed to be one of those permanent things in life, like the Broons annual and the Rev Ian Paisley, until one day it wasn't there any more.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/05/2025 07:17

The sleeper train has arrived, that was a brilliant idea. I’ve got Colin - he’s much better behaved than my own dachshunds were when they occasionally had to share my bed, he’s got the knack of sleeping lengthwise rather than crosswise and not jumping off for a noisy ear shake and then pretending to need help getting back on.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/05/2025 07:21

I really did fade out - last day of our holiday, in a hotel with a proper bath after a week on a boat.

we occasionally had Xmas hampers in the 60s which included packets of Cremola. And im pretty sure something similar was used to make fizzy drinks as a treat at primary sports day, pale greenish lemon-lime allegedly.

What is Creamola Farm?

It supposedlyis similar to German Ahoi Brause. I was asked by a former neighbour years ago if I could bring him some from Germany because someone had told him it was a lot like Cremola Foam and he missed it. I have a few packs in the cupboard.

MarieDeGournay · 18/05/2025 09:35

I've never heard of Cremola Foam, clearly didn't live far enough up the island, but I remember a wave of ginger-beer-making which swept through my school when I was about 8.
As was often the case with me, I didn't really get what they were all on about and though it must be something like alchemy, the Philosopher's Stone, Black Work, that sort of thing... and I didn't like the taste of the result.
Apart from that, I fitted in perfectly😆
