I'm not on FB so can't read the comments, but the Fire Brigade Union of all people - representing a sector which has been found to be institutionally misogynistic, homophobic and racist - is leaving itself open to hard questions about where it directs its energies in pursuit of equality, dignity, justice, and respect.

Missywelliot · 14/05/2025 14:24

They're bloody sexist idiots aren't they.

Thank you - in this case, I could see the post but not the comments.

Sometimes I hate FB - when people or groups I would like to know more about, or support, or even donate to, only communicate via FB and in such a way that you have to be a FB use to read anything at all😡

Which industry was it who were sued because they failed to provide changing facilities for women and expected them to change in front of men?

Was that the fire service?

For those not on Facebook

One of those images is good illustration of why "gender based violence" is such a poor replacement for "male violence against women", and why liberal feminists and trans advocates were so keen to adopt it.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 14/05/2025 15:44

Another Union proving what a waste of space union's are nowadays.

Coatsoff42 · 14/05/2025 15:51

I wonder what other laws they think are optional.

And who shoved men back into the same spaces asap??

Tbh the author gets a "bit fuccknn stuppd" award 🤣

The L and the G and the B have no problem working out which sex is which🙄

The only way the fire service can not safely provide for men who ID as women in mens spaces is if the men on the spaces are violent transphobes who attact or harrass fellow men out of the space.💅

Wasn't it London Fire Brigade which was found to be institutionally misogynistic...?

Tallisker · 14/05/2025 17:35

Lucy Masoud, ex London Fire Brigade fought and fought against this. And they ignored her.

Some of the comments are frightening - “The supreme court judgment was only advisory and not a law. Only Parliament can make news laws and they have yet to act on this.”

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 14/05/2025 17:37

I begin to think I quite respect the Taliban. At least they are honest about keeping women out of work and public spaces.

And South Wales Fire Service

Mind you, in consequence it's been taken over by the Welsh Government, under minister Hannah Blythyn. Who is a six-cylinder, 24-carat queer theory drenched gender ideologue.

So a fat lot of good that will do.

There by proving they don't have a clue, it's a judgement, they've got it right there in their comment, judgements aren't advisory, it's a legal decision, on an existing law.
A wonderful example of what the education system in this country is churning out. 🤯

There’s a lot of it going around. During a Microsoft UK training event today, the instructor told us she was heavily involved in equality and inclusion and “despite everything that’s happened recently” Microsoft are not changing anything!

Pudmyboy · 14/05/2025 20:05

In the comments, Sophie Langley has posted a piece by Rebecca Helm, who describes herself as a biologist, and then goes on to spout a tasty word salad of nonsense. I think that word salad has been posted on a thread here before and got thoroughly shredded and shown to be the nonsense it is. I wonder if it's the go-to article for people who want to challenge sex being binary and think a long post is so impressive people will simply believe it is true regardless of the content.

Did you get any pics of the slides/presentation?
The press would like to see those I’m sure!

"Our LGBT+ members tell us that after the publication of the interim guidance, there is now little clarity for those using single sex spaces in fire stations and control rooms."

I'm beginning to think that LGBT+ people can't read. It's very clear. If you are male use the male facilities, if you are female use the female facilities.

LGB people have always used the appropriate facilities for their sex. Nothing has changed.

What on earth was the training about that needed her to mention this? How to amend your email signature in Outlook?

The training was technical. She shoehorned in the equality and inclusion when introducing herself and her experience.

MookieCat · 14/05/2025 21:01

They are so so stupid.

I am getting my gardening green fingers ready for all the tribunals that will come about for all the institutions that have said they will refuse to comply with - like- the actual law (and common sense, but that's another matter).

What they mean is that it doesn't say what they want so there's little clarity about how to get around it.

HaveYouActuallyDoneAnyWashingThisWeekMum · 15/05/2025 07:40

Oh yet another group of non-legal people mis-mansplaining the law.

Just stick to sliding down poles and aiming water at fire please, chaps/ladies.

i wrote that on their twitter thread. It was... interersting.

But there is also a slide that includes their Black members. And i did also take the opportunity to ask them if that meant (because the slides are very confusing) they want separate toilets for black members too. Answer came there none.
