I wanted to copy this hugely eloquent post from a Reddit reader from a thread in r/Glasgow about the Scottish Greens suspending a prospective MSP candidate Eryn Browning after credible allegations of a history of sexual misconduct. Surprisingly upvoted and not too much pearl clutching in the replies.

"Not the only deviant among the Scottish Greens I suspect...
Can't wait for the downvotes coming by the reddit altworld, but I'll say it, this specimen represents why the trans community have been so vilified in the genuine Scottish public. "What has trans got to do with it/here we going bring up the fact they're trans/plenty of non trans politicians are guilty too etc..." aye heard it, but nobody seems to be mentioning it in your wee world. I don't see the trans here i see the trans+greens+years of anecdotal chat about his perving in Glasgow. Many of the most vocal and threatening at their protests have a similar chronology.
For some strange reason those most vocal against women's spaces and for the GRC etc are specimens of this ilk. As opposed to trans people I know in my own life (a family member I look upto as a role model in my life, and 2 good friends) who want to get on with their life without undue attention or grief. They have gone through personal loss as friends and family can't accept them not to mention the surgical procedures they had to endure to be their true selves. They had no inclination not to mention the time to sexually harass or threaten any man, boy, woman or girl. Nor have they ever attended political protests that see signs threatening those women who are slandered as TERFS. One of them is a Tory and the others are on the left, none of them would vote green because of the harm they believe the scottish greens have done to them.
Why then do these men seem to have an inclination to do these things? Sexual harassment and abuse is a problem with men, not trans women. All men have a responsibility to call it out wherever we see it happen and that includes among the fake trans women who are just highly sexualised men parading as trans women. For those here calling him "they/she/her" you're basically falling for their MO. Using being trans as a distraction or method of entry to perpetuate his deviance, thus giving ammo to the very people who oppose your naive belief that expanding their rights don't trump others rights. Hint: trans people already have the same human rights as you and I do and creeps like this have no place in the LGBT community or anywhere else on our streets or in public service.
Scots on Reddit are over represented in those who have encouraged these mutants to aspire to political office."

Wow well that's a brutal comment. I'm surprised it hasn't been deleted yet being on Reddit.

It's a shame that these v vocal and violent men are the ones causing harm. Not just to women, but to those who have trans identities that are vulnerable (with mental health issues, autism etc which has been shown to be highly over represented in this group). Women have been trying to point this out for years. This guy gets it obviously but sadly our Scottish politicians do not.

Wonder how long the comment will remain. I'm not on Reddit so can't see the replies but it is intriguing it has been posted.

I was reading that post the other day.

Reddit Glasgow generally referred to him as "they", plus a lot of "it's always the ones you least expect". Meanwhile, Reddit Scotland, which has always loved a bit of zealotry, remained adamantly she/her-ing.

I expect many/most still believe trutrans, as the OP comment exemplifies, but still. Compared to years ago, these more negative discussions were not happening on Reddit at all. Baby steps.
