Sex Matters Urgent Action: email your MP today on the data bill

“Unless the Data Bill is amended to block inaccurate data sources from being used to “prove” sex, it will bake in these [self id] practices. Gender identity is not recognised in law, but the new law will allow it to erase sex in practice, and make it impossible to implement the Equality Act and protect single-sex spaces. This is gender self-ID by the back door.

The amendment to solve the problem
An amendment that would solve the problem (NC21 Directions to public authorities on recording of sex data) has been proposed by Dr Ben Spencer MP.”

Thanks for starting this thread. This needs us all to take action TODAY otherwise it will be too late. It’s a really easy process (thanks Sex Matters, you’re awesome). The link was on the other one but was in danger of getting lost amongst posts responding to ‘why can’t you just be nice’ arguments.

Bumping :)

I got this email but there is little point with my MP, he responded to the ruling with the usual lib Dem sort of stuff.

CanOfMangoTango · 05/05/2025 12:46

Thank you - have emailed my MP

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 05/05/2025 16:35

Thanks I've emailed mine, he has responded to me previously when I asked him not to support a conversion therapy bill, so I'm confident that he will at least read my email. 🤞

Note to say: Sex Matters say you can still send emails today, the 6th - the amendment will be discussed on the 7th.

Giving this a bump - so important

I doubt mine will even respond....

Mine will send his usual snotty misogyny response if he bothers, but he cannot say no women in his constituency cared or said anything.
