I thought they were against rights being 'rolled back'?

I'm finding it really inconvenient that other people have rights that get in the way of me snatching ice creams off them when I fancy one, that's definitely not on. I'll pop up the link and the crowd funder.

Tallisker · 02/05/2025 12:09

Ugh they split an infinitive.

DrSpartacularsMagnificentOctopus · 02/05/2025 12:15

Twerps.

If GC isn't protected neither is not believing in GC.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 02/05/2025 12:17

So they want Parliament to remove beliefs they don’t like but retain the right to believe in gender identity.

Can’t see any risks in Parliament being able to legislate against freedom of thought at all…

DialSquare · 02/05/2025 12:21

Lets set up a petition to stop them stopping gender critical beliefs being protected!!!!

But then what if they start a petition to stop your petition to stop their petition to end the protection of GC beliefs? 😯

We’ll start another one to stop them stopping us trying to stop them from stopping us. I think!

VanishingVision · 02/05/2025 12:33

...aaand once again TRAs make themselves look like the Nazis they accuse GCs of being 🙄

SirChenjins · 02/05/2025 12:37

There's an awful lot of thoughts and beliefs in their lives and not much in the way of facts, aren't there? It's those misplaced beliefs that have got them into the mess they're in - let me behold the barren field in which I grow my fucks as I roll my eyes at their foot stamping.

WomenShouldStillWinWomensSportsIsBack · 02/05/2025 12:41

Doesn't that mean their own beliefs that men can magically change into women would also no longer be protected? They're turkeys voting for Christmas.

Rightsraptor · 02/05/2025 12:45

Oh I did laugh at that! Silly children.

Brighton, Sheffield and York are the current hotspots. Now, why would that be? 😕

BundleBoogie · 02/05/2025 12:48

…can deter organisations from doing due diligence

by ‘due diligence’ do they mean ‘weed out women who know they are a different sex class to men from the business’ by any chance?

They desperately want theocratic power; just the same as Trump wanting all federal employees to be actively pro-Evangelical Christian. It’s the same ultra-narc misogyny grown from a different cultural Petri dish.

I’d like to hear this one debated in Parliament. All for it.

LonginesPrime · 02/05/2025 13:01

I really hope this petition makes it to the parliamentary debate stage.

It would be delicious to finally see it spelled out to these people that gender identity is a philosophical belief and not a fact.

It’s so tedious seeing journalists and politicians constantly skirting around the obvious implication arising from Forstater that if it’s perfectly possible and reasonable not to believe in gender identity (i.e. to have gender critical beliefs), then gender identity must necessarily be a mere belief (as opposed to an indisputable fact) too.

This petition is brilliant, for four main reasons:

  1. it alerts the many members of the public who still don’t realise gender critical beliefs are protected (often because their employers have threatened disciplinary action for believing them) that they are;

  2. it emphasises the fact that gender identity ideology is in fact an ideology akin to any other philosophical belief or religion, and should be treated as such;

  3. it highlights perfectly that transactivists actually do want to take rights away from people with other protected characteristics, despite their claiming otherwise;

  4. a debate will have to acknowledge that ‘woman’ is a protected characteristic in law, since gender critical beliefs merely state this fact. How could it possibly be the case that the right to acknowledge what the law says is removed from us? That makes zero sense.

Ah you see no. Not in their eyes. They consider their side facts. Not opinions.

know your enemy etc.

Datun · 02/05/2025 13:13

Law tells them to both protect trans/non-binary people as well as people with "gender critical beliefs".

One goes, they all go.

And I didn't think trans was described in law, and I'm certain non-binary isn't

theilltemperedqueenofspacetime · 02/05/2025 13:14

Wait, what now? TRAs will petition parliament to make it legal to refuse goods, services, employment or accommodation to anyone who refuses to say that they believe that people can change sex?

No blacks, no dogs, no Irish no Professor Sir Robert Winston!

Datun · 02/05/2025 13:18

I must say, there's a certain satisfaction in watching all the TRA bollocks play out in public, under the full glare of the spotlight.

FortyElephants · 02/05/2025 13:34

I have 4 mutual friends with the person who started it! One of whom is a massive secret terf 😆😆

Ha - this certainly does seem like a “let’s bring the ideology down from the inside” initiative..

Sadly not, both my terf friend and I used to live in Brighton and she has many many Facebook friends due to her job, I doubt she actually knows her

matresense · 02/05/2025 13:52

I do know this person (school, Facebook friends) and pretty much all her income stream is related to trans rights so it does come from a place of a trans bubble.
