I'm concerned, because I don't think there are enough of them to go around all the politicians and celebrities who want them as friends so they can talk in quivering voices about their suffering at the hands of aggressive straight women in toilets and transphobes at the UK Supreme Court.😒

DB really is so incredibly dense. It’s quite scary actually.

There are days on which the only thing that keeps me from exploding from the sense of sheer injustice and knuckle-dragging stupidity are posts like this which laugh me out of my despair!

I’m wholeheartedly behind protecting the title of nurse. I just wish it wasn’t being championed by DB. But I think we can all agree that people shouldn’t be allowed to pretend to be something they are not, whether it’s down to a lack of qualifications or the wrong chromosomes.

Well I’m astonished I tell you, who would have thought that DB would turn out to be nursephobic?! For all of us who have identified as a nurse at various times in our lives this is just unacceptable and totally bigoted. I’m fumin.

So I know this is a lighthearted thread but for a bit of context, although Doctor and Dentist are protected titles, Nurse isn’t. Meaning Healthcare Assistants and other unqualified people can call themselves nurses, and be referred to as nurses by others.

It is important not to mislead patients and the public about the qualifications of people treating them. Especially when staff budgets are tight. So it’s a serious and important campaign and on this particular issue I am grateful that DB raised it in the HOC and wish other politicians would support her. And yes.. I obviously wish DB could recognise the irony of her position.

Back to the tone of the thread, why do we think the historically male healthcare job titles are protected while nurse isn’t?

Some butch lesbians are challenged in the women's toilets 'Oi this is the Ladies!' - I've been challenged like that myself on occasions - but I've never heard of any lesbian being 'hounded out', it usually becomes obvious to the other women present that it's just a woman who looks a bit different from them, no hounding out needed.
