Here

No surprise but linking to a list of upcoming demonstrations and advice on writing to your MP is beyond the pale.

UCU statement following Supreme Court ruling on the legal definition of a woman

In light of the recent Supreme Court ruling, we want to reaffirm our union's unwavering commitment to equality and inclusion.

What a shower of shitwits. Why are can’t they just give a hoot about women for once?

DisappearingGirl · 25/04/2025 22:15

I'm struggling to find the bit about UCU's support for female colleagues who might welcome the ruling that clarifies their right to female only spaces ...

Oh wait, I forgot that was one of the reasons I left the UCU after 20-odd years.

😂😂😂

They are going to throw the mother of all wobblies when they read the EHRC's interim guidance just issued. 😁

nauticant · 25/04/2025 22:37

I wonder if this can be used by the solicitors for Wayne and O'Neill vs UCU as evidence that UCU is not only partisan but also not entirely reasonable in their position.

Mumteedum · 25/04/2025 22:40

I would really like my union to do something about workload and conditions.... I think that's their job....not policing my opinion on matters of law.

I would settle for an acknowledgment that there is a clash of rights. Instead they are linking to a list of protests and how to contact your MP. They are a disgrace.

Bless. You'd have thought UCU would want to dial down the temperature on this? Given that they have a live discrimination case on the go. Nah, not them.

Odd how transmen's maternity rights don't matter. Maybe some transmen are pleased? Or would be if they were given a break from endlessly being told how terrifying it all is. Most supposedly pro-trans organisations don't seem to have noticed any benefits to transmen.

I packed UCU in as well, UCU's loss remains Affinity's gain.

This will include listening to and learning from our members, especially those with lived experience,

That's almost enough to make me wish I'd stayed. I could share my lived experience with them 😂

GCAcademic · 26/04/2025 00:38

I'm pretty sure that some lived experiences are more equal than others.
