Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Does this mean we're going to have lots of Employers "educate yourself" type campaigns for men about accepting trans women in their toilets??

If so, I'll be standing at the sidelines applauding!!

So many women spoken to or disciplined for not accepting....

Oh my god, WHY all these "trans" threads?

So, in reality, each of us may view an obviously trans person once every five or six years in some capacity.

Who cares? Just leave other people alone and MYOB and everything will be fine.

You had the opportunity to scroll past a topic you are not interested in but you choose to criticise women for discussion the biggest attack on our rights since pre suffrage.

I see several trans identifying men pretty much every week as do many posters on here. Do you not get out very much?

That I’d like to see. And I expect most men will be a bit narked at the implication they’d give these men grief as by all accounts they just leave them alone.

The trans identifying men I know get no grief in the mens toilets which thankfully they use regularly.

northwestgirl · 24/04/2025 18:47

yes lets hope so
they wouldn't want anyone to think they were bigots, or hateful or anything

LlynTegid · 24/04/2025 18:48

I doubt it.

IAteAllTheCake · 24/04/2025 18:48

@loveyouradvice yes it will be very interesting to see how men will be treated if they object. Women were vilified by employers for daring to question, even when it directly related to issues of our safety.

l’ll be watching with interest indeed. Won’t hold my breath though

If you worked somewhere like the NHS which has been captured and then some, you’d want to know the answer.

Some of us meet half a dozen a day and have several living on their street (including my desisted DD). University/art college town. Literally a dozen pass me on their way to the 10am lectures when I am walking the dogs…

Unless you’re one of the women expected to change in front of a trans identifying man at work. Or attend a mixed sex rape support group, with no alternative . Or many many other situations where women have no choice but to be very vulnerable in spaces that have always been single sex until now. Like, you know , prisons.

If you don’t want to read them, you’re under no obligation to open them. For many of us here, recent events have been the culmination of years during which we watched our friends disciplined or forced out of jobs for the crime of knowing that a man is not a woman.
It’s the result of years of being gaslit by almost every institution in our country who told us the things we knew to be true, the things in front of our eyes and ears, were not true. And that we had to submit to the doctrine or we were bigots and monsters.
Many of us saw this for what it was, as the word woman was scrubbed from even the very medical literature aimed specifically at us, as we were not allowed to lay claim to anything that transwomen couldn’t appropriate for themselves.
We avoided leisure centres with our daughters where hulking great blokes, who two weeks ago were known as Bob, appeared in the changing rooms as Lucinda.
So maybe, you find it all a bit inconvenient. Or maybe it’s just a mild irritation visiting a public forum where other women do actually care about what’s going on.
But for many here, this was the only place we could speak relatively freely. And we’ll continue to do so.

cordeliavorkosigan · 24/04/2025 19:08

Haha op good idea and I think a huge challenge is that male spaces are unwelcome to gender diversity.
But.. I'll look for this after pigs fly, sadly.

It's a hugely important topic affecting half the population. I see trans people most days by the way.

I thought that until I was taken aside and warned that my refusal to refer to a very evident ‘man in a dress’ at work as ‘she’ was bigoted.

’She’ also used our change rooms, in a rather ‘celebratory manner’.

Nope.
