Time to write to MPs?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I'm thinking this is a good time to write to MPs to show support for the SC judgement, and to keep the pressure on to make sure an appropriate follow up from the government. Particularly following Keir Starmer's delayed and underwhelming response and performance at PMQs yesterday.

Local elections for many next week, dontcha know...

My thoughts exactly. My MP is conservative, but I'd like him to know my views as a constituent
I wouldn't take his political party as necessarily a reassurance in this matter.

I wrote to mine yesterday and posted my letter on here.

Yes, absolutely - I was inclined to wait to see how organisations deal with the ruling first, but given all the MPs standing up in the HoC talking about how all their trans constituents have contacted them, it seems like the perfect time to remind them they represent many women who need protections too.

Ah thanks - I missed your thread (it's very fast moving on this board at the moment!). Posting the link to your thread.

MissScarlet, would you mind adding the name of the thread where you posted your letter, please?

Just saw the other posts. Thank you for the links.

I don't know where the other thread is but I wrote to my MP a while ago.

His response, redacted:

Following the (SC) ruling, the Equality and Human Rights Commission is now revising its code of practice, which will then be reviewed by the Government in due course. The Minister for Equalities provided reassurance that the guidance will ensure appropriate provision, with dignity and respect for all. I will continue to monitor this issue closely as I recognise its importance to those who share your perspective.

Let me assure you that I will continue to back the Government in its work to protect women.

I support its mission to halve violence against women and girls in a decade, and to raise confidence in the police and criminal justice system.

I also share its commitment to protecting trans people, such as through a full trans-inclusive ban on conversion practices, and its work to equalise all existing strands of hate crime in England and Wales.

END

I just talked to mine! He said the TRA's were unreasonable and he's glad about the SC ruling - good news.

However, this is a major U-turn from the answer I got from him last year, and he has until now, always said that TWAW.

BlueBrush · 26/04/2025 16:39

That's great @gaowere. Awaiting a response from mine.

I've emailed mine too. Just wanted her to know how much I support the ruling and in case she was getting swamped with letters from the transactivists. I also suggested the Government starts to encourage men into accepting trans identifying men into their spaces.

lnks · 26/04/2025 16:45

I’ve written to my labour MP. I’m not expecting a reply because I emailed several times before the GE and didn’t receive a response from her.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 26/04/2025 16:47

I've written to both my MP and my MSPs twice already.

Only Pam Gosal has responded saying she was also delighted with the ruling.
