With effect from 23rd April 2025, entry and participation in Ultimate Pool women's events are open only to biologically born women.

They need to honour the women who should have been the winners this year and revoke the recent title holders.

loveyouradvice · 23/04/2025 20:59

As a non-pool playing woman...

Are these the guys who oversee the main UK championships?
Who had two transwomen as the finalists in THE main UK women's pool championships?

If so ... a huge step forward....

BUT heavens, how they've done it.... and NOT brave enough to rerun this year's final with those contestants who would have been eligible!!

Yes that's them I wonder if this means that they'll settle the lawsuit against them

Surely they have to? The ruling is that the law has always been that women are biological women, so that final absolutely discriminated against them. They either compensate them (not sure that money in lieu of a title actually works, though) or they hold the final again… which I would hazard could be cheaper/quicker than a court case and more satisfying for the ladies involved?

WandaSiri · 23/04/2025 22:13

They could retrospectively make the losing semifinalists into joint winners, perhaps?

loveyouradvice · 23/04/2025 22:17

I think holding the final again would be SUCH a powerful message ... especially to their fans (and sponsors), who I imagine are almost all people who want to see women competing??

Wow that would be something!

I hope they are brave enough to do this, now they have the weight of the law behind them!!

And you are right @CautiousLurker01 - probably cost a lot less than the court case and win them many plaudits and lots of positive publicity.

Hoardasurass · 23/04/2025 22:24

Surely they'd have to reply all the matches that they competed in

SternJoyousBee · 23/04/2025 22:28

Robin, Lucy and Harriet will be furious 😂😂😂

I think it would send a powerful message and, even though I’m not big into pool, I’d bloody well tune in to see a real ladies final!

This tweet sums up my feelings…

They should bloody well apologise to Lynne Pinches too.

SueSuddio · 24/04/2025 14:02

Just saw a press release about the lawsuit and how Lynn Pinches in particular has been affected.

Solidarity to her, her name will be remembered for long to come.

This is a highly relevant tweet:

Note where it came from.

TronaldDumpsalot · 24/04/2025 14:42

Im hoping the Pdc will follow with Darts. A man took one of the women's spots in the most recent World Championship.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 24/04/2025 15:47

The decision on the case where English Blackball Pool Federation is being sued by Harry Harriet is still to come, I hope the clarification by the SC will see this man loose his case, and hopefully result in EBP Federation being awarded costs or something.

is it just the judgement we’re waiting for? Did both legal teams already submit their final oral submissions?

SternJoyousBee · 24/04/2025 16:22

From what I can make out, the case is over, it's now being considered by the tribunal, so all the arguments have been made but hopefully the SC judgement will still be taken into consideration, I don't know about anything else that might have come out afterwards.

JanesLittleGirl · 24/04/2025 17:11

IIRC the Judge and counsel for both parties agreed that there would be additional final submissions once the SC ruling was known.

Wonder what RMW will come up with. Will he still try and misrepresent the proportionate means to a legitimate aim and case-by-case principles? 🤔
