… that I found really reassuring.
I was waiting outside a cafe and heard two men and a woman - all 20-somethings - discussing sex and gender. I didn’t hear everything they said, but one man was saying:
’it used to be if a boy wore pink he liked pink or maybe he’d grow up and be androgynous, there are loads of people who are, or gay, but then some people decided that actually he was a girl!’
Everyone agreed at that point and someone said about puberty blockers being given to children and that it was good that’d been stopped.
Then the woman said;
‘On the news there was a really religious woman in America and she realised her son was gay and she admitted that she’d persuaded him to become a girl as that was better for her religion.’
i had to go then, so I didn’t hear any more, but it just felt great to hear people in real life saying things which I’ve only heard discussed online or talked about with close friends before.
