Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

the comments below pretty much all disagree with the article

Circumferences · 23/04/2025 18:23

Well, I agree completely with Jess Gill, because I care about women and girls.
The UK has a real problem with imported misogyny from other cultures. The Labour government has invested more energy into covering up the problem than it has into improving the problem.

This view doesn't represent all GC feminists. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with her statement, and my statement. I'm ok with that.

BreadInCaptivity · 23/04/2025 18:29

That’s a hell of a lot of baggage to attach to one persons tweet….and says more (or rather less) about the author of the article than the tweeter.

Lots of comments asking why loads are being deleted. For an article talking about totalitarianism 😀

zanahoria · 23/04/2025 18:39

On top of that, the pipeline from transphobic to racist is very real as proven by Jess Gill’s initial X post

Not sure it proves much,it is just one person on Twitter

Who is Jess Gill?

She hardly represents the gender critical movement.

Agree, the extreme forced teaming is what I hoped to highlight

I refuse to allow the myriad tracking cookies the site insists on in order to read the comments. But yeah, that article lives up to the old maxim that “opinions are like arseholes…”

Who owns Metro? I've never bothered to find out before. But they've always been weird bullshit apologists.

Whilst it is the Daily Mail (and they do share a number of stories), I believe they allow them editorial independence and they have employed a lot of Gen Z activists. I wonder if they think it's because of the audience inside London?

TheCatsTongue · 23/04/2025 20:01

Yesterday they had an article about the Pope from the viewpoint of a trans activist...

Bigots - erasing the drag queen perspective - how dare they.

MixTapeMel · 23/04/2025 20:20

Hmm, if one tweet from someone supporting the SC judgement and also holding anti-migrant views means all GC women are racist then one sign on a SC protest march saying kill TERFs means all trans allies are murderous misogynists. QED.

I know it's an opinion piece but I did think you had to have a modicum of logic to your arguments to get published. Silly me.

Not a drag queen yet?

I'm afraid some stats have just been released confirming which nationals commit which crimes and at what rate. These figures wouldn't suit the article's author's belief system at all.

northwestgirl · 23/04/2025 20:38

actually a poster did turn up on here, I think on the day after the judgement, pretty much making the argument this author accuses GC women of making

it didn't gain any traction, but its something we need to watch out for

just because all the GC women I know are instinctively left wing, doesn't mean everyone who knows TWAM is the same

That's the BBC, everything in the news can only be understood through the media of drag.

Just because people agree on one subject that doesn't mean that the same people agree on a different subject.

For example, I am quite happy to say that I think Hamas are the scum of the earth.

Other people here praise them as freedom fighters and were glad to see so many Jewish people being killed.

But both of us will welcome the recent Supreme Court judgment.

It's the same old story, only trans women can save migrants, can stop abortion being banned etc.

I don't know how many times I see the argument "if trans women can't go in women's toilets then abortion will be made illegal", "if trans women can't compete in women's sports then migrants will be targeted".

Nothing said about the anti-Semitism on display at the trans rights marches though...

I can’t read the comments- is this my ineptitude or have they hidden them?

ArabellaScott · 23/04/2025 21:07

I used to think Metro were activists; recently I've started to think it's just trolling outrage for clickbait.

northwestgirl · 23/04/2025 21:10

IIRC the argument was-
now we have the SC judgement which will make women safer, our next step to make women safer should be
stop any brown men coming here because they are all rapists

for the avoidance of doubt, I think this is hateful nonsense

After you click on the comments bubble it forces you to either accept all their cookies and other shit, or it won’t allow you to see them and chucks you back out to the article.

I think it’s a bit like Pink News in that aspect.
