He’s changed his tune!

AppleKatie · 22/04/2025 15:50

Taken him a disturbingly long time but at least he respects the court judgement

Deafnotdumb · 22/04/2025 15:52

I'll take it, even if its being said through gritted teeth. Golden bridges and all that.

Lib Dems also accept the SC judgement as do the Tories.

Now we need to weed out the unlawful policy mess across the NHS, education sector and police.

LDs accept the ruling?

Well they might want to have a word with Christine Jardine than.

How many penises must a man possess
Before you can call him a man?
And who in the world may be a cervix-owner?
Is there any man who can?

Starmer’s answer, my friends, is blowin' in the wind.
His answer is blowin' in the wind.

WarriorN · 22/04/2025 16:01

It’s also the fact it’s a top headline Smile

He’s changed his tune!

I don't think he ever believed it - he (like many others) just went along with it because he thought it made him look progressive

lady69 · 22/04/2025 16:02

I very much doubt be ever thought they were but was too much of a fricken coward to say so, until the supreme court clarification made it easier for him to be up-front about it. Spineless git.

mids2019 · 22/04/2025 16:02

Good. Had to be done but finally leadership.

Upstartled · 22/04/2025 16:03

Starmer does not believe that trans women are women (today).

The rumour is he is trans ally due to a personal connection to a trans person.

That's generous of you.

I'd say he's just about graduated to followership!

Hello @_JennyMcKiernan in your otherwise sound article, Starmer does not believe trans women are women, you've misrepresented judgment here, "This means transgender women with a GRC can be excluded from single-sex spaces if "proportionate"". Wrong.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 22/04/2025 16:30

It's still too late.
He threw women under the bus for ages.
I do not trust him, nor do I trust his Party, even though I voted for them with gritted teeth.

Lottapianos · 22/04/2025 16:32

I hope he's mortified for making such an utter arse of himself and going along with this total madness in the first place

Agree, it was very much a hold your nose and vote from me. Still don't trust them as far as I can throw them but it was the lesser of several evils at the time.

Nah.
Absolutely not leadership.

The man should be sweeping the grime from every aspect of women's lives.
Clean up this mess properly and completely and finally.

He’s changed his tune!

Playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order.

And while he's doing that, he should reassure disabled people that their PIP is safe, instead of letting Rachel Reeves remove the benefit.

Deafnotdumb · 22/04/2025 16:38

Yes, there was a lot of equivocation and hand wringing in the Lib Dems statement about waiting for guidance to see how it works in practice, @RedToothBrush. However, Ed Davies said they accepted the ruling and welcomed the clarity.

I admit, I've got the links bookmarked and the popcorn on hand for their reaction to the EHRC's code of practice later on this year.

Skyellaskerry · 22/04/2025 16:39

Any apologies to women from anyone yet for having got things so wrong?

ButterCrackers · 22/04/2025 16:40

It’s a matter of fact not belief that women are women. Transwomen are not women - it’s not based on belief at all.

He’s right, Starmer hasn’t actually said those exact words as per the bbc headline…!

Now you have may be at reluctant in places political backing to the ruling I think (being a hopeless optimist) it is going to be a lot easier to be gender critical openly. If you have the rule of law and political normalisation I would hope GC (finally) is back to the default view of society. Here's hoping.

TonTonMacoute · 22/04/2025 20:07

This did make me laugh, sorry to say.
