Oh the irony.

Kellie Maloney says life will be very dangerous now after the court ruling.

Am I the only one finding it difficult to find any sympathy whatsoever for violent scumbags like Frank? Strangled his wife in 2005, only stopping because his children walked in.

This is what brainwashed stupid people are wanting to let into women’s spaces.

Oh the irony.

I’m just here to see if @WarriorN gets off that train safely 😆

Apologies @SeedyHotel for that just irresistible derail 💐

I think building regs will have to do yet another update on their toilet provision
The problem is they never require existing buildings to upgrade, just new and those under renovation.

So there will be lots of faux tears before bedtime

Without going into details of where I worked , he was in my workplace once. A colleague of mine, just in a general chat, said he found it really hard to see him as a woman when he'd always known him as a bloke. Some sneaky fella off the LGBT+ group heard him, reported him to management and he got dragged into the bosses office for a telling off. I was already a terf, but it would have peaked me if I wasn't.

Jesus. The little Stasi mentality and atmosphere was one of the worst things about this whole nightmare.

It’s modern debate isn’t it?
’What do you mean you don’t agree with me? You want me to just die! I’ll kill myself then and it will be all your fault’. Waaaagh.

Absolutely anything less than complete affirmation is met with accusations of transphobic bigotry. Which is apparently “literal violence” and threats/ hopes of violence , I hope/ you deserve to be punched in the face/ fist fucked / raped / dead which is apparently just self defence against the erasure of existence.

I do miss the old days where you would have long chats, often in pubs, setting the world to rights often with people you disagreed with finding a middle ground. Sometimes you’d agree to disagree and that was fine too.

TBF they are calling for third spaces, which I don't think we should shut down just because a horrible person says it.

unsync · 21/04/2025 07:32

Men eh? What are they like! Male privilege is strong with this one.

They may well be discussing third spaces, but the “Woe is me, I’m so scared and oppressed,” invective is just wearying. I don’t trust such men an inch. Given the slightest chance, they’ll be pointing out third spaces are too much to expect and demanding they must be able to use the women’s wherever that is not an option. Otherwise such ongoing hyperbole would be unnecessary.

They could just as well be matter of fact. Yes, the law is now clear and now we need to ask for spaces of our own, so that we can have our own safety, dignity and privacy without affecting women.

My concern is that Starmer et al are weirdly invested in working out how to get these men what they want.

There's now a trans thing on reddit to boycott the bbc firstly because the protests were not centered on the front page of their websire( coverage was on there but way down the list, beneath oh you know real wars and things) and now because the coverage isn't sympathetic enough and focuses on the vandalism of statues.

The entitlement is astounding. I'm sure the bbc will neither notice nor care about this 'boycott'

R/transgenderuk if anyone wants to see it for themselves. It's quite enlightening seeing how they are framing all this.

Kinsters · 21/04/2025 10:52

Yes I noticed that @IDontHateRainbows. Surely it's protesting 101 that criminal acts get more column space than non criminal acts?!

I don't know how much more attention they want. There was even a guardian live blog!! Which I noticed ended very quickly after the verdict. I wonder if they'd been expecting it to go the other way.

IDontHateRainbows · 21/04/2025 11:13

Now they are are saying an undercover terf must have done the vandalizing and then tipped off the media.
Oh the self delusional!

I agree that we shouldn't shut down the call for 'third spaces' because of the horribleness of the people asking for them, that would be irrational and unfair.

But I think we should shut down the call for 'third spaces' [they are actually fourth spaces as accessible toilets for disabled people are the third space required by law and building regs] because I don't see the justification for the massive disruption and expense needed to provide extra facilities for a tiny percentage of the population, who already have facilities designated for people of their sex.
I don't buy the safety argument - any evidence that transwomen have been attacked in men's toilets?

Good luck to whoever has to announce, in the current economic climate in the UK, the expenditure needed to provide third/fourth spaces in public buildings!

FFS 🙄I suppose it was undercover TERFs carrying all the banners with violent imagery and threats?

Datun · 21/04/2025 11:18

Ooh, I hope Maloney starts a petition for a 3rd/4th space.

<gets pen>

SinnerBoy · 21/04/2025 12:12

Third spaces were literal genocide last week, are some of them actually rational?

That won’t happen.
They will not tell trans people they have to use the toilet of their sex.
They will call for a change to Building regs for all new, change of use and buildings under refurbishment

It will therefore still be a huge problem with existing public buildings having no requirement to upgrade.
They may require businesses to provide separate spaces ‘if it’s proportionate’. Which is very tricky if there’s simply no room or money.

I suspect there will be an all in approach by businesses for many establishments with unisex accessible toilets for everyone to share. In the short term at least.

Datun · 21/04/2025 13:36

To me, it's completely unacceptable to use the provision for disabled people for people who fondly imagine they're the opposite sex.

But, I genuinely don't think it will really happen.

Not because business won't recommend it, but because the number of trans identifying men who suddenly find that the ladies is no longer available for validation, will decrease significantly.

RobinEllacotStrike · 21/04/2025 14:28

Just use the toilet for your sex dudes.

mind you every corporation in the land has been absolutely giddy with the trans bollocks - no doubt they will happily fund third spaces for the very special among us to ignore & not use.

I haven’t read the judgement yet, but I have seen some comment on how swapping everything out for unisex will lead to indirect discrimination for women- so unisex spaces might not be the answer many think they will be.

AcquadiP · 21/04/2025 15:01

It's going to be 'dangerous' to use the gents because men are in there, says biological male (who's built like a unit.)

Right, so on that damning basis, why the hell would women and girls want to share their toilets with biological men???

Zero sympathy from me. Campaign for third spaces and leave ours alone.

Datun · 21/04/2025 15:23

Yes, this idea that trans identifying men aren't safe in men's toilets has to be addressed, across the board. Let's see the receipts. Where's the evidence?

I think it will be a short term thing for businesses that need to accommodate trans people but previously let them ‘ chose wherever they were most comfortable’. ie the Women’s spaces.

Hopefully there will be a better solution long term
