Women threatened in court ruling backlash - mumsnet was blacklist with Omnigov (ad agency for gov.uk)

As protests mount against the Supreme Court judgment on biological sex, Mumsnet says it was ‘blacklisted’ from hosting government ads over trans stance

The campaigners who won the Supreme Court battle over the legal definition of a woman have been inundated with death threats and misogynistic abuse since the landmark judgment.

Messages sent to the organisation’s email address included one received hours after the ruling that said: “You’re a group of disgusting murderers and deserve death. God will rip you from your family one day and nobody will mourn you.”

Another read: “Your inhumanity makes me vomit. You stupid women should feel deeply ashamed for being so stupid.”

...

The founder of Mumsnet claimed the parenting network had previously been “blacklisted” from hosting government advertising because of its stance on transgender issues.

Justine Roberts said the company discovered in early 2022 that the media agency that buys adverts for the government was no longer placing them on the site. Roberts, who believes the decision was overturned by officials working for Boris Johnson, the prime minister at the time, said: “We’re not anti-trans. But we believe women have a right to raise concerns about their sex-based rights.”

A senior civil servant who was familiar with the discussions at the time said: “[The government] got very wokey. The ‘woke mind virus’ did infect government advertising after 2022.”

That’s interesting. Presumably MN is at least one of the, if not the, most concentrated female audience in the UK. Which means it’s a very effective way to reach women. That sounds as if not giving money to MN was more important than reaching an important audience, which is surely the point of a government ad agency.

Tanya de Grunwald has a podcast episode in which there’s a discussion about how companies a their C Suites have entirely lost their sense of business mission. They prefer to perform a social mission.

This action feels like that. It’s a wretched indication of how little oversight there is in so many institutions and workplaces.

Very important and valid point.

It's appalling.

I think, as if we need reminding, of just how hard and for how long, trans activists have controlled the narrative.

And as the leaked Labour emails show they are not going to stop.

They will see this as just a blip towards their end goal.

But also wanted to highlight that the women at FWS who have got the ruling from the Supreme Court are now, probably more than ever, personally vulnerable.

And having what should be a time triumph smeared by the bullying mysogynistic MRAs who hide behind the "virtue" of being TRAs.

I'm more concerned about the current death threats than the blacklisting.

Let's keep a very close eye on how the police respond to the threats to campaigners...

Sending a message of gratitude and admiration to FWS for what they have achieved, and of support in dealing with such despicable threats.💜

Haveiwon · 20/04/2025 21:51

Really awful but not surprising to hear about the death threats and abuse. FWS stuck their heads above the parapet and stood up for all women. Thank you!

NumberTheory · 20/04/2025 21:53

The death threats are really worrying. I hope the women are getting good support and the police investigate and prosecute.

The fascist tendencies of the TRA movement are absolutely shocking. And the acceptance of that by so many institutions even more so.

And women’s rights and safety is not seen as a valid ‘social mission’ at that.

I knew this pernicious ideology went deep, but the Omnigov news still came as a little bit of a shock.

I'm unsurprised at the backlash and hope the police take assertive action against those sending death threats to women who have been brave enough to become visible on this issue.

Its also a reminder that irrespective of which party is in Government the captured civil service stays the same.

And yes do hope the police will actually act.

But am so angry that this is happening.

But the TRAs aways stoop to this level.

Just look at the disgusting placards some were happy to be seen with on the various demos.

So they would have no problem directly harassing women.

You would have thought the would be more interesting getting their arguement over to the public.

Although maybe this makes it clear this is their arguement.

Horrible women are being nasty to the most oppressed group in the world and should not only be stopped but punished.
