Mass piss-up?

Litterpicking · 19/04/2025 07:45

Has anyone noticed the India Willoughby post on X, re-tweeted by For Women Scotland promoting the #pee4me “mass” demonstration tomorrow in Parliament Square in protest at the SC “removing legal protection from women who are trans”. A mass public urination on Easter Sunday will certainly win over the British public.

It's quite a bold move to tell people they're wrong without even reading the post you're replying to, isn't it?

Haulage · 19/04/2025 22:22

Pique has 2 meanings - curiosity AND irritation.

Neither of which is what is meant here. We haven't had our curiosity piqued nor are we in a state of pique 🙄

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/04/2025 22:22

Pp even correctly used the word peak as it’s being used here! “Peak Mumsnet” is the exact same usage as “peaked”

The MN use of ‘peak’ dates to 2017 or even earlier, iirc. Sound about right?

It’s hard to tell between the deleted threads and those lost in the upgrade.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/04/2025 22:23

Yes, it’s pretty well established.

Yes, it’s pretty well established.

I think both Selina Todd and Sarah Pedersen have commented on MN and FWR codes and usage.

You're getting your homophones mixed up @DiaryofaProvincialLady

Don't be homophonic

VioletSpeedwell · 19/04/2025 22:45

They were chanting:
"Not the courts and not the state. We'll decide our own fate"

Think they might be wrong there. Again.

VioletSpeedwell · 19/04/2025 22:47

And "one struggle one fight. Palestine trans rights"

OK...

Dearie me.

DOBARDAN · 19/04/2025 23:06

Trans rights activists defaced a statue of Millicent Fawcett in Parliament Square today. Daubed with 'fuck rights' graffiti apparently.

Livelovebehappy · 19/04/2025 23:07

Hilarious. We don’t have to do anything to flag how unhinged this group of individuals are. They are doing it for us. Because of course pissing all over the streets of London is going to have everyone sitting up and taking their concerns seriously 🙄

NumberTheory · 19/04/2025 23:52

DiaryofaProvincialLady · 19/04/2025 15:21

FFS it's "PIQUE" not "PEAK"!!

It's peak as in "peak oil", indicating a change in direction.

There's a lot of pique too, but when we talk about TRAs peaking people, we mean they are changing minds in our favour, not that they are irritating (though they are that too).

WarriorN · 20/04/2025 00:07

Laurie Penny mis named the statue on Twitter, thinking it was Pankhurst.

she attempted a pop at Janice Turner yesterday.

Turner doesn’t speak for all women, and certainly not for all feminists.
TERFs seem to think this ruling legislates trans people out of existence. It does not.
Trans people will continue to exist. They will continue to deserve dignity and human rights. How is this ‘over’?

Laurie, seriously, did you read the judgement? Trans people, thankfully, are protected from harassment & discrimination under the EA. Stop the histrionics and let’s work out the compromises for everyone to have safety and dignity.

JK has also just posted this blistering reply: https://x.com/jkrowling/status/1913726412164420076?s=46&t=A2fpFNgDRyXF2d6ye97wEA

“Janice isn't claiming to speak for all women, @PennyRed, but given that you aren't one ('the category of "woman" does not fully describe my lived experience') it's hard to see why you should be speaking for any women at all.

Literally nobody thinks the Supreme Court ruling 'legislates trans people out of existence.' Trans people have exactly the same rights and protections they had before the ruling, and unless they've mass combusted while I wasn't paying attention, I'm fairly sure they continue to exist.

If some trans-identified people in the UK are currently experiencing rage and disappointment because the Supreme Court clarified that they don't have rights they believed they had, the responsibility lies firmly with activist groups and sections of the media who've persistently argued, falsely, that gender transition turned a person into the opposite sex for all practical purposes in the eyes of the law.

You can personally take some responsibility for that state of affairs, of course, because you've spent the last few years enthusiastically championing the removal of single-sex spaces for women and girls. Indeed, you went so far as to tell the mother of a fifteen-year-old who asked how her daughter was supposed to feel on discovering a penised stranger in the girls' changing rooms, 'I'd tell her it's rude to stare at other people's genitals.' That anti-woman, anti-safeguarding quip puts you right up there with every male creep who's spent recent years insisting women and girls have no right to privacy, dignity or safety.

You'll undoubtedly continue to offer your contributions to the debate, but don't be too surprised if a lot of old-school women (the boring kind who've been deprived of the fascinating experiences that make you non-binary and genderqueer) find it supremely easy to disregard anything you've got to say on the subject.”

JKR just never ceases to amaze me with her articulate, astute and often witty responses 🥰

fromorbit · 20/04/2025 03:54

I note the crowd in Trafalgar sq seemed mainly white. Which in modern London is unusual.

There were lots of pro-Palestinian chants yet weirdly no sign of Muslims turning out.

Not good demographics if you want to influence Labour politicians.

I think it is significant that Sadiq Khan has said nothing. His X account is full of other recent events in Trafalgar Square like on Friday. I think he might be thinking of following Anas Sarwar. The reversing ferrets maybe on their way.

On his X account Khan has marked Transgender day of visibility every year. This year on March 31st nothing. In fact no deep tweets about trans stuff since March 2024 before that there were loads of pro trans statements.

Beep Beep This ferret is reversing.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/04/2025 06:54

Forgive me if I've missed it, but is Palestine known for giving gay men, lesbians, bisexual people and trans people legal protections? I rather thought the reverse. I am appalled at Israel's treatment of the people of Gaza, but isn't Israel the only country in the Middle East that does have those legal protections? Almost as the world is complicated and you can't pick a side to support based on just one thing.

Exactly. It is a great example of TAs being daft. Though for us it is helpful if they think Muslims are going to be coming to help them. Means they get distracted by fantasy again.

Hoppinggreen · 20/04/2025 18:07

I am really glad they are doing this, shines a light on it

TeiTetua · 20/04/2025 18:44

Pardon my morbid curiosity, but did they do it standing up or did they squat?

LegoTherapy · 20/04/2025 20:51

They were all happily filming themselves so the idiots who did it probably have footage of themselves and will have posted it on SM for the likes.

David Tennant is pissing me off tonight. I don’t know if it’s a recent photo but it made its way to my Facebook page along with hundreds fawning all over him saying what a wonderful human being he is. Seems a bit of an aggressive stance to me and very typically masculine in that stance. I understand he has a trans child so he might feel some obligation to make a stand by if my child was trans I’d be taking a stand to fulfil my obligation to stop the nonsense that made them think they could identify out of or into something they are not.

Did you see Emma Hilton’s response to that?

We did.”

Pretty sure I spotted a photo on X (from behind) of a man in a skirt, holding what I can only imagine was his penis (lifted the skirt from the bottom to do so), pissing up against a statue plinth.
