Thank you Arabella. I look forward to reading this later.

I often wonder and hope that Detroit is ok.

I think of her. And was it a marble topped coffee table that got damaged? Was it her who liked Stash Black Forest tea?

14 men to 1 women in the homeless shelters.

“A spokesperson for Glasgow’s Healthand Social Care Partnership said: “We’re committed to ensuring the safety of women resident within emergency accommodation.“

there’s that phrase “we are committed to” these days when I read that I read ‘we have to say something but don’t really care so here’s some meaningless twaddle for you to quote’

When I worked in night shelter 25 years ago we had accommodation for 30 men and 3 women . I was told at the time that that ratio was right.
they were kept separate. I believe the ratio has now changed mostly because the courses of homelessness have changed.
the biggest course used to be travelling men becoming unemployed and unable to return home.
now it is leaving care and drug abuse.
that was my understanding anyway.

Oh, yes. I seem to recall.Detroit found a flat and was furnishing it? Or did I dream that...

I can't c and p from the article, but it seems women are self excluding because of the inherent risks in mixed sex accommodation.

What situations are they enduring to avoid homeless accommodation?

Didn’t Detroit tell us about moving into an apartment block with an art deco entrance? She was so excited to furnish it after being homeless. I seem to remember there was a breakage when something was delivered.

Didn’t Detroit become homeless after domestic violence?

I can't recall all the details, but yes, I think she had moved into a flat and was furnishing it. I hope she's well.
