There is a great picture of JK Rowling on page 6 of today's Times.

Love it.

It reminds me of the exceptional response to India Willoughby when she tweeted something along the lines of 'JKR, I am more of a woman you will ever be' and JKR responded with; 'Citation needed'.

I am so so so enjoying this. And the women who have been hounded from their jobs; doxxed; sent death and rape threats for saying biological sex is real and it matters. You rock, all of you.

ItisntOver · 18/04/2025 10:44

OK.

We need T-shirts, Birdy Rose bling etc.

Slogans?

Slogans? Well, there's always:
ADULT HUMAN FEMALE. LEGALLY.Grin

Conkerjar · 18/04/2025 11:31

Oh man that JKR pic is stellar. It'll fuel the hatred terribly, of course. But I love.

I love that photo ❤️ Queen of Cool

everythingeverything1981 · 18/04/2025 11:46

Jk is a bit of a queen tbh

Westfacing · 18/04/2025 11:52

Brilliant!

It shows just how far this nonsense went that equality policies are now thrown into chaos as a result of the Court ruling - a ruling that just stated the obvious.

We really do owe a lot to these fearless women who stood up and wouldn't be silenced. JKR had her infinite wealth to physically protect her - academics, civil servants and other women e.g. the very brave Sharron Davies just took the risk and spoke out.

Just watched that Trevor Phillips interview. Excellent, calm and authoritative.

side loop, could someone tell me please why all the letters to the editor start with "Sir"? I thought letters to unknown persons are adressed as "Dear Sir or Madam"? It sounds so abrupt to only use "Sir".
(English is my 2nd language)
Thank you!

The editor of the Times is a man, so it's Sir.

I've a feeling that the Guardian has dispensed with the "Dear Sir" or "Dear Madam" bit altogether.

Trevor Phillips is being absolutely marvellous too. So articulate and reasonable.

Thanks @porridgecake

Just finished watching it. Very refreshing!
Thanks for posting.

@RoyalCorgi
thank you!

KnickerlessParsons · 19/04/2025 18:06

I really hope G Linehan will also be vindicated now.
He has suffered so much because of his defence of women.

DragonRunor · 19/04/2025 18:16

If you are the sort of person who prefers to outsource your thinking, why on earth would you choose India Willoughby and not Kathleen Stock or Emma Hilton to do your thinking for you?

Screamingabdabz · 19/04/2025 18:20

“So many people and institutions that should’ve known better, did not hold the line.”

Yes totally agree that this is where the concern is. Women were considered collateral damage in the appeasement of male fantasies and fetishes. There should be a public enquiry and heads should roll.

Davros · 19/04/2025 18:22

@ConstructionTime I think it’s become a bit of a joke. Letters in Private Eye usually start “Sir”. It probably started in Victorian times when everything was formal and always male orientated. There’s also sign offs such as “Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells”

ConstructionTime · 20/04/2025 17:59

@Davros

thank you, too 🙂
