Support for our lesbian sisters

I was watching the news on the SC judgement with great interest with DH (hint: I'm not a lesbian) and to my utter astonishment, he stated that he was really saddened by how much lesbians had been impacted by this. He does read widely (for a man 😉) so somewhere he's read about the terrible situations extreme trans ideology has created for lesbians.

We discussed the lamentable loss of lesbian spaces and culture and how hard it must be for young lesbians. I referenced the judge specifically referring to lesbophobia and how the judges looked perplexed at a heterosexual man "becoming" a woman and a lesbian.

We both hope that this is a starting point for the reclamation of a strong and proud public life for lesbian women ❤️

(As an aside, he also noted that men know how bad men are and that's why generally they don't support trans stuff, although he likes the MTF trans person at work because they're a lovely bloke 🤣🤣🤣)

I to am not a lesbian but I'm particularly outraged at how this genderwang has impacted the demographic.

I'm all for supporting them, but quite a few highly placed lesbian's are not supporting themselves. As mention in an earlier thread re Kate Osbourne.
I think it might be time for the LGB Alliance to get more vocal and active in their community, others can support them but only they had help themselves.

I agree and would cheer on (and fund) LBG Alliance to do more

ArabellaScott · 17/04/2025 15:44

Agree, OP. Outrageous how lesbians have been attacked and vilified, just for their sexuality.

IwantToRetire · 17/04/2025 18:01

I have to say that prior to the ruling being given yesterday I thought there would be no change. That rightly or wrongly how the EA had allowed sex based rights be undermined by the GRA meant that that was what Parliament had decided was "the law".

So was more than a little over joyed to find out that the Court had decided that the concept of a "legal woman" was nonsense and sex was, is biological.

And on listening to the judgement being read out thought the part where it referred to the impact on lesbians was just well, surprising moving and strong.

So now I think, it was the lesbians wot won it!

Lesbians Rule OK!

rebmacesrevda · 17/04/2025 18:25

Totally agree. I cried when the lesbians cheered in court! If anyone dares tell me about Trans Victimhood, I will direct them to read the intervention from lesbian groups given to the court.

Also, I just love the phrase “Lesbian Interveners”. Sounds like a punk band.

WithSilverBells · 17/04/2025 18:38

I am absolutely thrilled for lesbians. I think making them accept men in their associations and dating pools is an outrageous infringement of their human rights and the clearest example of homophobia and misogyny in this whole sorry tale.

No, no the Interveners are like spirits (or witches) appearing at the right moment to put things right for all women!

I imagine a whole series of blockbuster movies showing the many wonders they have performed. Grin

Probably not punk, but a shoutout here to Norwegian Lesbian group, Hungry Hearts and their Vagina Anthem.

They should enter eurovision!

GreenFriedTomato · 17/04/2025 19:24

I'd give anything to see them on Eurovision. How wonderful would that be 😅

GreenFriedTomato · 18/04/2025 00:06

I liked the bit where the judge iirc stated that lesbians are attracted to others of their same biological sex, they are not attracted to certificates. Or something along those lines.
Perhaps that will be the next sexuality label that comes along. Certisexuals

There's a quote from Shereen Benjamin halfway down this article: "“Everything we had won had to be won with blood, sweat and tears,” she said. “And now, at the university, young lesbians have to meet in secret and they find it hard to find one another.” She's talking about Edinburgh University. What an absolute disgrace that in this day and age young lesbians can't meet openly. But I bet the 'most oppressed' group - trans-identified people - have loads of opportunities to meet, lots of safe spaces organised for them on campus etc. My younger daughter, now in her 30s, had a whale of a time as a lesbian student. I'm so glad she's the age she is and not 10 years younger, it could all have been so different.
