Listening to PM tonight, where the story is at the top of the program.
Who do they talk to?
Michael Foran. Obviously a thoroughly decent chap.
Then
A tw, very against the whole thing, obviously.
But what about one of the women who led the appeal. Or any woman.

Emily did well on The Newsagents explaining firmly to the whiny man why it was not a minority issue

CriticalCondition · 16/04/2025 22:48

Yup, I skipped the News to watch detectorists 😍and am now on Newsnight. Nicht, nyet, nada so far on the biggest story of the day. Banging on about Trump.

Isn't she just, I used to like the podcast she did with Fi Glover but had to stop listening as couldn't bear the faux feminism when they were too afraid to address actual issues.

Me too. I loved the 'Fortunately' podcast, can't listen to them anymore.

TheaBrandt1 · 16/04/2025 22:49

With the exception of TRIH I won’t listen to all male podcosts any more after Rory bloody Stewart and his “isn’t Afghanistan marvellous now” comments 🙄

Yep. Fuck em.

Campbell proudly proclaiming that it was all fine and the nasty bigoted people would die off soon and he knew this was right because he listened to his (awful tra handmaiden) daughter so he did listen to women...

Again, fuck em.

CriticalCondition · 16/04/2025 22:58

Finally on Newsnight. Jo Swinson wants clarification from the government. Duh?

CriticalCondition · 16/04/2025 23:04

Jo Swinson demonstrating she's about 5 years behind - all so toxic, too much heat, all women should fight together, transpeople so vulnerable. Has she been asleep or something?

I watched GB News at 5 and they had on Debbie Hatton and...Helen Webberley! ( I switched off at that point...) Dreadful coverage.

Blimey. It's been like grifters day out for the professional tra. I just need to hear that Windy has been bleating on so that we can all shout Bingo!

It would be refreshing to hear a comprehensive interview here in England with one of the amazing women from FWS.

TheaBrandt1 · 16/04/2025 23:14

This issue finished the Libdems for me.

teawamutu · 16/04/2025 23:16

Jo 'Who? Oh, the pointless handmaiden who took £££ from the puberty blocker vendors' Swinson?

No further questions, m'lud.

🤣

Codlingmoths · 17/04/2025 00:19

I’ve just complained. How bloody dare they.

moto748e · 17/04/2025 00:47

I haven't watched any TV news tonight (so much going on!), but this thread sounds bloody depressing. What the hell happened to proper journalism?

GetMeOutOfMeta · 17/04/2025 01:16

MorrisZapp · 16/04/2025 17:32

Jane Garvey on Times Radio had one guest on, Moira White. And she barely challenged his utter gibberish. I had my head in my hands.

That is what I heard in the car! I was very confused and had to check twice I was on radio 4 because it was so self pitying and annoying from a man putting on a woman's voice that sounded like he was frankly taking the piss. I had to turn it off. I know the BBC have a huge amount of Trans workers, but surely they still have to have impartiality and this would suggest interviewing a man instead of a woman when a judgement has proven one is never the other is discriminatory?

GreenUp · 17/04/2025 01:37

Just watched the Daily T podcast on youtube - think they did the best coverage from a feminist point of view. Fantastic interviews with Joanna Cherry, Helen Joyce and Julie Bindel. But I was most impressed with the young 25 year old Emma Hartley at the end - she spoke eloquently about her experience of being sacked by the Lib Dems for praising Joanna Cherry. Hope she will go far in politics.

News Agents was enraging - Lewis Goodall is such a massive TRA and constantly framed everything as a culture war and said it only affects a tiny minority.

C4 News seems like a lost cause, Cathy Newman constantly tried to tone police Maya and then Krishnan only inteviewed two trans women and almost coaxed one of them into claiming the judgment was threatens their existence.

tobee · 17/04/2025 01:58

Anyone who centres this as being a bad day for trans rights rather than a good day for women's rights can fuck right off really.

The Guardian I'm looking at you.

allstarsuperstar · 17/04/2025 02:33

C4 News was a disgrace.

Maya interrupted constantly by Newman (lol, what a name), then some patronising disclaimer right at the cut-off that "many people would disagree with you", with nothing for the batshit barrister bloke from the Highlands, who took his moment in the sun to share that he'd once been intimate with a doctor who couldn't tell that he was a bloke (while insisting many times that he's always been a woman). I think it was an admission of rape by deception on live telly? V bizarre. Then out of the blue, he asked Maya why she was so afraid of him, and my spidey-senses got the impression it was quite a fetish-driven Q.

Then cut to a VT all about tensions in America, positioning this as right vs left as if a significant chunk of UK women's campaigners aren't OG lefties. Apparently, back in the rioting days, people were fighting for "LGBTQ" rights (🙄). To top it off, the studio interview had two TIMs freaking out about how smol and vulnerable they are now, they couldn't get out of bed etc, just a whole bunch of histrionic catastrophising, giving viewers a good look as to why better mental healthcare in this country is required. I assume more farce followed but I couldn't stand it any more and turned it off.

So C4 decided to spend this momentous day in modern women's history cooing over three blokes in womanface, and treating Maya like a partypooper.

This issue finished the Libdems for me.

Only just now? They've been utterly useless on this issue for years.

JulesJules · 17/04/2025 07:31

Just turned on the radio this morning (BBC 5live) and RMW is on again

thenoisiesttermagant · 17/04/2025 07:34

If you want to see sex discrimination in action, it's the number of times some bloke with a dubious knowledge base is invited on the BBC to discuss women's rights over Helen Joyce / Maya F / many other highly competent women - who in most cases know more about the subject and are better interviewees (less 'me, me, me').

StanfreyPock · 17/04/2025 08:06

The ultimate mansplaining in action...

Appalonia · 17/04/2025 08:13

Listening to R4 now on this issue and the first person they have on is Jane Fae whinging about how complicated it is...

I'm not having that. The Today programme today is hosted by Nick Robinson and Justin Webb. They have been fantastic on this issue, two of the few sane voices at the BBC.

Nick hosted the prime-slot, post-8am interview. He started out by summing up the situation with the 'headline' that "TWAnotW". Bold as brass. He emphasised how straightforward the concept was but - moving swiftly on, nothing to discuss here - went on to talk about the implications. He had a 13 minute interview with Baroness Faulkner.

Agreed. From what I heard on Today this morning, I think they were covering the subject reasonably.

Yes, I thought that she did really well despite some goady questions from Herbert @Zita60

Yes, the absolute numpty asking her how would she feel if told she wasn’t a woman? Good for her for not bursting into laughter. I’m sure it took a lot of self control.
They don’t do themselves any favours at all.
