Listening to PM tonight, where the story is at the top of the program.
Who do they talk to?
Michael Foran. Obviously a thoroughly decent chap.
Then
A tw, very against the whole thing, obviously.
But what about one of the women who led the appeal. Or any woman.

I was infuriated by Channel 4 News seemingly only interested in how the trans community would be impacted by today's ruling. Illustrated by a video analysis which was almost all about America and unquestioningly declaring this as a left vs right issue.

Lisapieces · 16/04/2025 20:37

RoyalCorgi · 16/04/2025 18:49

Oh, and then they had Harriet Harman who tried to pretend that she knew all along what a woman was and none of this was her fault. Breathtaking.

Now that people finally know what a woman is surely they are going to have to start having them on the Beeb for you know balance…

Given that Channel 4 has two very strong female presenters, surprising they didn’t make more of this news.

I wish Emily Maitliss still presented

The News Agents podcast has Maitliss and they've dropped an episode on it. Off to listen!

AmandaHoldensLips · 16/04/2025 20:47

Saints alive, I had to turn off the BBC coverage after that bloke Jane started pretend-snivelling on the R4 lunchtime news.

Where were the brave-hearted women who spear-headed the action? And why was nobody talking about why the fucking fuck we had to get the supreme court in to stop the erasure of women's sex-based rights?

All the men can fuck right off.

Yes, I'm still angry.

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 16/04/2025 20:53

SwissBall · 16/04/2025 20:14

It’s not just the BBC with terrible guests, Freda Wallace is on LBC with Iain Dale.

Jane Garvey is such a disappointment as a former Woman’s Hour presenter.

Isn't she just, I used to like the podcast she did with Fi Glover but had to stop listening as couldn't bear the faux feminism when they were too afraid to address actual issues.

CheeseChamp · 16/04/2025 21:14

The News Agents podcast where having a massive moan about why the fuck this had to go to court, and said politicians were basically cowards and that's why.

I'm not sure I agree with this viewpoint. Can you imagine if this issue had been left with politicians? Even if they HAD ever got to a conclusion on it, everyone would still say they were wrong, so we would get nowhere. This way it is done, you can't fucking argue with it, time to stop talking about bloody trans people all the bloody time (who are in my view the most shouty and complainy of which are just the latest iteration of emo/goth culture for the most part) and live the way we all lived 20 years ago please. Christ, I'm tired!

MorrisZapp · 16/04/2025 21:18

Channel 4 is a fucking disgrace. That muppet Cathy Newman hastily reminding viewers that many, many people will disagree with Maya Forstater while enthusiastically thanking that Highland barrister weirdo for his mumbled gobbledygook. Utterly shameful.

SwissBall · 16/04/2025 21:25

I recommend the Daily T podcast with Kamal Ahmed and Camilla Tominey which is uplifting and interviews Helen Joyce, Julie Bindel and Joanna Cherry.

Ah the bloke broadcasting corporation does it again.

If you want to opt out of paying for your license (easy to do if you just use better streaming services that are a bit less... blokey.... ) you can do so here Dont need a licence - TV Licensing

I’ve never heard of “bloke” c c. Very apt.

Yeah, I don’t have a TV licence - got fed up with their bias. When they totally ignored KJK & what happened in NZ, I had enough. I also refuse to click on their website. It doesn’t matter if they don’t notice, it matters that I do.

CriticalCondition · 16/04/2025 21:37

I wish Question Time was on this week. Although I know I'd only be disappointed by Fiona Bruce and her feeble 'be kind/lots of people disagree' schtick.
And Newscast would be even more enraging with Adam Fleming.

Hey ho. More fizz. I've opened a bottle. 😁🍸

redsplodge · 16/04/2025 21:38

And the BBC sports section has an article on the ruling's impact on sport that includes the following :

Former British swimming champion and OIympic silver medallist Sharron Davies has been a vocal critic of transgender women competing in sport.

FFS
Angry
I have complained

A female footballer bends down to tie her boot, which is resting on the ball while her team-mates train in the background.

Supreme Court gender ruling: What does it mean for sport?

The UK Supreme Court's ruling could have wide implications, including in sport.

Oh, but we can't have women telling men what women are! It's only men who have that right.

The News Agents podcast has Maitliss and they've dropped an episode on it. Off to listen!

She can be pretty guarded about it, and Lewis Goodall sometimes sounds like a TRA.

The TRIP smug dads (aka Campbell & Stuart) will talk about the poor tranz - they're insufferably "What about the menz?" on any women's issue.

The Two Matts will be interesting ...

And that's my podcast round up, folks. Balance these smug dad podcasters with the fabulous RedFem gals (ca't wait to hear their take!), and the Spiked free speech groaners.

Skyellaskerry · 16/04/2025 21:58

LizzieSiddal · 16/04/2025 20:28

I was just listening to that awful person and he said women were making up stuff about assaults and it was all in our heads. Joanna Cherry was magnificent!

Edited to change “Jo” to “he”.

Edited

I’m just listening to this programme on catch up and oh yes Joanna Cherry was truly magnificent!!!

It was disappointing particularly the "very few people affected", though they did ask what's the point of being trans/having a GRC 🤣

It was all about not having same-sex marriage!

Justasmallgless · 16/04/2025 22:05

10pm news on BBC Scotland is “interesting”

However, have you seen this interview with him on BBC News? The BBC news anchor pushed back on much of his nonsense.

https://x.com/JNHanvey/status/1912458864265461897

So simultaneously he can't work because he can't use the toilets, but equally it won't affect him day-to-day?

This is the veiled threat that yes, I know I'm not allowed to violate women's boundaries but I'm going be doing it anyway.

Well good luck with that

secretskillrelationships · 16/04/2025 22:27

I couldn’t quite believe Channel 4 linking this to homophobia and what’s happening in America. Two trans women saying how awful it was. But then both actually having to admit it would have no impact on them personally! No attempt to explain why the case was brought.

BBC News at 10 was actually more balanced than I’ve ever heard them report on this subject, mentioning prisons and other issues raised so many times on these pages. But still seemed to want to undermine the women who campaigned on this (emphasising the ruling saying it wasn’t about a side winning) without questioning why they needed to.

2Rebecca · 16/04/2025 22:33

I think this does call for us to complain to the BBC. They showed pics of the Supreme Court so could easily have had a proper interview with one of the FWS directors. If Scotgov had won they would definitely have interviewed Swinney. Their coverage was awful.

Appalonia · 16/04/2025 22:35

I watched GB News at 5 and they had on Debbie Hatton and...Helen Webberley! ( I switched off at that point...) Dreadful coverage.

mateysmum · 16/04/2025 22:36

I've just.mentioned on one of the other threads that I had to turn of ITV News at Ten before I threw something at the TV. No analysis.of the judgement just a load of crap about how it's all terribly complicated , so many problems implementing it, where will the poor delicate trans women feel safe now. Not a word about women's safety of course

HillyHollyShandy · 16/04/2025 22:40

And it looks like there’s going to be nothing on Newsnight about it!
