AI is essentially a language predictor; it isn't a coherent set of beliefs or facts. In this case it's mainly a summary of search results, ie it's copying what has been posted on the web.

Yeah but it's nice that AI has obviously found so many cases of 'woman' being defined as 'adult female human being'Smile

I have found this with AI which makes me think it scans the internet more thoroughly that search engines which service up "facts" they prioritise.

ie ChatGPT will happily give you the arguements about why sex is biology.

But google is really bad if you want to find more recent events in terms of news about sex based rights. Somehow this never make the news matrix even though it is news.

Something I notice a lot in the media generally (even the BBC!) is that when people are talking about trans issues, or coming from a “LGBTQ+” or “queer” angle, they’ll remember to toe the gender line and talk about people who give birth, assigned at birth, not suggest people are just male or female etc. But when it’s not about that, all that is forgotten and they’ll happily discuss for example prostate cancer being a men’s issue or vaginal mesh being a women’s issue, with no reference to the genderist dogma that they promote for brownie points and box-ticking. (unsurpringly, because most people actually do still know there are two sexes that have different bodily functions etc.)

So AI is going to encounter this pretty mainstream understanding of sex more than it encounters genderist nonsense, even now. Plus there’s all the older information from pre-2015 ish when what’s now called “terfism” was just factual knowledge. On top of that, the reality is more consistent whereas genderism is self-contradictory and the righteous things to say/denounce keep changing so they won’t register as well with AI.

I have co-pilot. It will not write anything about being gender critical and transgenderism. It's apparently complicated. It would write a laudatory poem about a brave trans woman, however, and defines a woman as an adult female human but adds that other definitions include cultural expectations, experiences thus: Many define womanhood through experiences, roles, and attributes, whether relating to strength, resilience, nurturing qualities, or contributions to society.
Not especially terfish.

Isn't co-pilot Microsoft.

Microsoft isn't IT services software provider, and a bit like twitter is as much a reflection of the attitudes of its owner(s).

Actual AI (well in theory anyway) scans all info available and then presents it.

Microsoft is trying to own individuals work. This is why they want everyone to buy into the notion of "the cloud". This is you giving a money making venture all your work.

Not forgetting that if there ever was major sabotage of internet connections everyone who had obidiently hand over all their files to microsoft would be left empty handed.

A bit like why we still need actual money.

Keep you own info on your own computer.

Dont trust a commercial company.

Let alone in the Trump era where he is as likely to say all europeans are socialists and a threat to America and they will seize of Microsofts infrastructure.

Nothing exists unless it has three copies. The cloud is not any sort of back-up and cannot be used as one and anyway gives access, as you say. I keep my stuff on my hardrive, an external hardrive and usbs and I back-up regularly. Wherever possible I also have a hard copy, i.e. I print it in one way or another.
Copilot lurks on my laptop. I don't use it and I don't give it any input. Just lately thought to ask it what it did.

Okay - I think my response was more a knee jerk reaction to anything Microsoft! Blush
