Scottish Greens being sexist again

With Sparkles no longer a member other male Scottish Greens have had to step up to continue their terrible reputation. They are doing their bit.

Scottish Greens council candidate claimed JK Rowling was a Holocaust denier and said trans rapist Isla Bryson was a woman
Exclusive: Eryn Browning has been chosen by the Scottish Greens to contest a by-election in Clydebank Waterfront but offensive historic posts have resurfaced.

There is hope the Scottish Greens might plunge into civil war after their conference. Patrick Harvie is standing down as leader but Slater is standing again and there is opposition over her elitist behaviour.

Not been in the spotlight much since being deselected Maggie now comes out for women selling their bodies.

Maggie Chapman MSP

Sex workers are experts on their own safety.

Ash Regan's Prostitution Bill claims to protect them, while completely ignoring their voices.

But Scotland For Decrim are advocating for the marginalised. I was honoured to sponsor their event, & stand up for workers' rights✊

Were these poor women “experts in their own safety”? Only about 300m from Chapman’s office in Dundee. Could they identify away from the sheer brutality of the attacks this monster subjected them to?

guinnessguzzler · 10/10/2025 13:34

Maggie Chapman really is an absolute arse. How do supposedly intelligent people not see how harmful prostitution is to all women? Sex work isn't work, you cannot buy consent, and frankly, if we rounded up all the men seeking the services of prostitutes, recognised them for the misogynistic pieces of shit that they are and locked them away we would all be much safer. This guy shows a clear pattern of escalation so his later offences could have been prevented if we recognised that the sort of guy going to prostitutes is actually a risk. Men who pay for sex don't respect women and shouldn't be allowed.

Haggis and colcannon is a good combination for me.

Ooh! Fusion food!

JanesLittleGirl · 10/10/2025 19:10

Any society that places any woman in a position that she believes that her only option for survival is prostitution is a society that has failed women. Any society that allows any man to believe that it is acceptable to pay for sex is a society that has failed women.

Scottish Greens have had their conference there has been an increase in membership 800 new members. Basically it was a sort of victory lap they are aiming to increase their support in Holyrood also refused to ally with the Corbyn party.

The Greens and Maggie Chapman's plan on her way out seems to be as well as ensuring Scottish women have to sell their bodies that they also have access to hard drugs as well. Great concepts never been tried before. Sure to end well.

'Dangerous' Scottish Greens vote to legalise the sale and use of deadly drugs like heroin and crack
Supported by Maggie Chapman, the Scottish Greens motion would make drugs similar to alcohol, with the sale and possession of illegal substances becoming legal.

I read about a month ago that Scottish Greens had ruled out collaboration with England and Wales greens because they weren't sufficiently TWAW, but iirc that was before Zack Polanski got elected.

Any collaboration being considered now?

ArabellaScott · 23/10/2025 19:12

Greens have clearly thought long and hard about how to refresh the branding with the new co-convenors. I'm trying to imagine what the brief was.

Vance?! Wtf is the deal with a US politician popping up on a graphic that looks like an eight year old with poor concentration skills and a shonky iPad knocked it together?

Gomersall wrote a column a few days ago. Looks like they were really upset by the conference which sounds interesting.

Scottish Greens closing door on Your Party electoral pact was wrong
22nd October

Speeches from senior Greens against working with Your Party focused largely on issues of assumed policy disagreement such as transphobia.
But all of the multiple trans members who spoke on the motion spoke in favour of co-operation, acknowledging that closing the door to working with a party on the basis of assumptions – assumptions which have already been dismissed by Sultana – fails to recognise the far more serious threat to trans rights if the left refuse to co-operate and leave the path clear for Farage and Reform.

https://archive.is/Y6LT8

This is huge it seems like it is the Glasgow faction who were trying to coup Harvey are all splitting off. See earlier in this thread for how nasty that was.

This could have big implications for politics in Glasgow and Scotland. If YP actually has a strong ground game in Scotland they could wreck the Greens chances in the list in some places.

We could be looking at TA on TA targeting which brings them both down.

The crazy thing is Gomershall knows this saying;

It would be deeply wrong for Greens to not expect Your Party to field candidates next year, but it would also be deeply foolish to think this wouldn’t decimate the Greens’ vote share and therefore the number of MSPs we can elect. The same will be true for the council elections in 2027, and all other future elections both parties field candidates in, unless some form of electoral co-operation can be agreed.

I expect that since the trans coup failed, Gomersal and other chancers are jumping ship to the next nascent cause they see as ripe for them to try and launch a takeover.

ArabellaScott · 25/10/2025 08:55

Inadequate men in pursuit of power.

SionnachRuadh · 25/10/2025 09:34

I know defections are a boost to morale, but you have to be careful with them.

Danny Kruger defecting was a huge coup for Reform because he's so well respected in Tory circles, but I've heard from very reliable sources that 18 Tory MPs have approached Reform about defection and been rejected. I assume some have been accepted and they're being kept in reserve for when the announcement will have most impact.

The Zia Yusuf rule is that you have to demonstrate that you're bringing something to the party in terms of skills, knowledge, connections. You can't just use defection as a life raft. That seems like a good rule to me.

I suspect that YP will pretty much take any defector they can get, as long as they're shouty enough about Palestine, and won't look too closely at whether they're chancers on the make, or whether they were a disruptive presence in their old party.

Lalgarh · 25/10/2025 10:44

Theory over the defections is it gives the 3 a shot at getting on an MSP list which they wouldn't have had as boring old greens. Not sure if or how that works

https://www.reddit.com/r/Aberdeen/comments/1ojeazo/top_scottish_greens_holyrood_candidate_suspended/

Guy Ingerson, previously embroiled in some kind of spat with Maggie Chapman, has been suspended.

'Guy Ingerson – who was chosen as the Scottish Greens lead list candidate for the North East in July – has been issued with a “no-fault suspension” by the party after a complaint was made.
He took the top spot on the list from MSP Maggie Chapman, who Ingerson previously lodged a bullying complaint against.
The National reported in June that Ingerson issued a complaint against Chapman, alleging that she had contacted Ingerson's place of work in October 2024 to suggest that he was "untrustworthy and should be 'watched'".
The National also reported that Chapman had made a previous complaint against Ingerson, which we understand was ultimately dismissed.
But a Scottish Greens spokesperson has now confirmed that a new complaint has been made and an investigation has been launched.'

👀 is right, @ArabellaScott! How much do her complaints smell of self-interest?!

maltravers · 05/11/2025 10:20

Denouncing to the leadership those with whom you disagree and getting a “no fault suspension” imposed seems to be a Green modus operandi. So undemocratic.
