The assault, which took place in the city of Loures, a district of Lisbon, was filmed and then shared online for more than 32,000 people to watch but no one reported it to authorities.

Three young men, aged between 17 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, aggravated rape and child pornography, but have since been released.

what is the world coming to? This is barbaric

So many instances where even video evidence isn’t sufficient when a woman is the victim.

Also, I have no understanding of the police and criminal justice system in Portugal.

Over 137,000 sign petition to make rape a public crime

More than 137,000 people have signed a petition urging the Portuguese Parliament to take stronger action against violence against women – starting with classifying rape as a public crime.

The petition also calls for tougher sentences for domestic violence and the legal recognition of femicide as a distinct crime.

This poor girl, as if the trauma of rape is not enough she has her violation shared with thousands of people.

thisfilmisboring123 · 10/04/2025 20:56

Put them in jail and throw away the fucking key.
Absolute pond life.

Thousands of people, and not one reported it. Shocking.

Absolutely horrific.

I suspect that on one level attitudes towards women and girls hasn't changed over the centuries.

But what might have seen as some advances in terms of getting society (men) to recognise that women had rights and that their bodies were theirs to control, has been undone by social media normalising violence against women.

Not only encouraging men to think they had rights over women's bodies, but that women and especially young women accepting that as the norm.

Added to which increase use of porn normalising sexual violence against women and girls.

With the absolute grim porn that is freely available and watched as a 'norm', it doesn't surprise me that it wouldn't even occur to people to report it.

That realisation makes me feel ill.

Jesus.
