BBC article. Very relevant to the other case but deserves it's own thread too. Nice to see it factually reported!

Five of the eight nurses arriving at Newcastle Tribunal Service. They are wearing smart clothes. Two of the nurses are blonde and walking ahead of their three colleagues.

Delayed til October.

The judge is reported as saying the issue is complex. I fail to see how it is complex for eight nurses to not want a bloke in their changing room. Seems pretty straightforward.

SinnerBoy · 02/04/2025 21:30

Yes, I agree entirely.

It’s complex because of ‘feelings’, the man’s feelings obviously, the women’s feelings are clearly irrelevant.

popefully · 02/04/2025 21:38

Again. It's not the fact that the nurse is trans that is relevant, it's that they're male.
Why is it always reported like this? There are plenty of people who will read the headline and think it means a female person who wishes to be seen as male.

DisappearingGirl · 02/04/2025 22:17

Yes, maybe the headline would be clearer as
"Women object to bloke using changing rooms"

Especially when politicians are saying the law is clear.

And that is it. In a nutshell.

Women do not want to be forced to undress in front of any random bloke who wants it, as a condition of their employment.

That is not 'complex'.

How the man feels about it is absolutely irrelevant. Any man requiring this of non consenting women has already made very clear what kind of a person he is.

Igmum · 15/04/2025 20:02

Possibly complex after the first part of Sandie Peggie’s ET in which, as it turned out, neither a qualified nurse nor a doctor knew how to define biological sex. Maybe the Durham nurses are looking for an expert witness on this issue? They might also be able to comment on the religious affiliation of the Pope and bears’ toilet habits.

I suppose it's a welcome change to see a nearly factual report about women's rights from the BBC rather than their dreary obsession with drag queen non stories.
