This is absolutely shocking.

Your link doesn't work and a quick google doesn't find anything - can you give more details @Seriestwo

I Googled Nicola Murray and found a link to an Edinburgh newspaper that was free to read. The Courier hides its premium content behind a pay wall.

I remember her and her charity from a few years back. Well I never. She turned out to be a bad 'un after all.

She says on X that she's been set up by a vindictive ex and she plans to appeal. No idea what's gone on here beyond what's in this image. (I've marked it as sensitive for a reason.)

On her X NM says she shall appeal. She is curtailing her case comments as she mentions a “perverting the course of justice investigation”.

Sorry about the bad link. I think it was the shock. I followed her on Twitter ages ago and thought she was a good woman.

Well presumably the victims gave statements / evidence in court. I assume she’s alleging that the exP coerced or coached them into saying what they did?

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 26/03/2025 23:36

Wow that's a real shock! Bit of a hard one to take really.

AstonsGerbil · 27/03/2025 09:23

I've heard via a fbgroup I'm in that there are rumours she's been set up and it's lies that pretty powerful men are behind to try and silence her for good. I think she's trying to appeal. I don't know enough to be sure though. If it's true that she did it then it's awful, if it's not then hopefully the real perpetrators are eventually caught. This is the issue I think with social media everyone knows something about something. I don't even know if I should trust what was written that I saw.

Manderleyagain · 27/03/2025 10:36

A very dusturbing development. I had read about her trust and seen them on twitter. We will have to see if she is given permission to appeal if there are grounds.

But as we know, it's difficult to put together a sexual abuse case and get it through the courts. It sounds like this prosecution was quite extensive with a number of victims over years, and I assume witnesses/victims gave evidence, and the jury was convinced. I think it would be very difficult to fabricate a complex prosecution.. There are victims who are not helped by a cloud of doubt, and she has been found guilty.

ditalini · 27/03/2025 13:14

It's hardly unusual for convicted criminals to say that they are innocent. As pp said, extremely difficult to secure a conviction for historic abuse. She has been found guilty and I'm not sure why we shouldn't believe the victims in this case and not others.

Yes, sadly it will likely badly affect the credibility of any charily projects that she has started or been involved with. Hopefully people can separate their feelings about her repellent actions from the wider message of Brodies Trust which is important, and they can ensure that she has no involvement going forward.
