Top story on BBC NI website at the moment. It has also been covered in greater detail with an interview with Joshua on BBC Radio Ulster at 8am.

If course being the BBC they "balance" it with input from a trans identified male who feels his transition was life saving for him and who completely dismisses the Cass Review.

Joshua wearing a white t-shirt and white baseball cap. He has white teeth and blonde hair with dark eyebrows. He is stood in front of a wall which is lit in blue light.

Man believes he was wrong to change his gender

Joshua McParland has had surgery to reverse the first of a series of planned operations to change his sex.

Jeez, why does it have to be balanced like that? Let Joshua tell his own story. He looks so much better as himself than the picture of him presenting as a woman.

I just stumbled across this and came to here to confirm I wasn’t having delusions in seeing the BBC give some focus to a detransitioner 😮

Radio Ulster had 20 minute section of interviews with Joshua (detransitioner) and Ash (TIM).
Relevant section is1.37.18 - 1.58.40.
Sorry don't know how to link directly to the interviews.

Interesting to see topic get such interest. BBC NI generally full on TRA.

Also top story on the TV breakfast news, with a longer piece promised at 6.30pm.

The breakfast news one didn't have the non-detransitioner, just a very bland 'everyone should have space to figure out who they are' statement from the Rainbow Trust.

The conflation and confusion of sex and gender in the BBC article is infuriating:

"A man who was transitioning to become a woman, has had surgery to reverse the first of a series of planned operations to change his sex.

[...]

The 23-year-old from Belfast said he had been questioning his sex from a very young age, but now believes he was wrong to try and change his gender."
