The petition waffles on about a safe and inclusive environment. How about the physical safety of the actual players?

Infuriating. These signatories only ever think about powerful, confident women who are happy to play with men ie ring fencing sport for a few. They are not interested in expanding it to include all women, they like it just the way it is, which is for them and their mates.

Is it more important that men FEEL safe, or that women ARE safe?

The petition is nonsense and lying it claims :

"This policy was not communicated or consulted on with women’s teams"

There was a long study and player survey ALREADY and you can comment on the new policy . They actually asked players last year and I think we can guess what everyone said the same result anyone who asks players to express their position on men in women's teams they overwhelmingly are against it.

The actual background

Ice Hockey UK – in collaboration with England Ice Hockey, Scottish Ice Hockey and the Elite Ice Hockey League – has introduced a new Sex & Gender Participation Policy that will take effect for the 2025/2026 season.
This policy defines eligibility for gender-based competitions, including eligibility in relation to transgender players’ participation in ice hockey in the UK.

The policy was developed following an extensive 18-month review led by Ice Hockey UK, which involved consultation with multiple stakeholders, including players, coaches, officials, advisory groups and medical professionals.
Additionally, a comprehensive membership survey was conducted in mid-2024 to gather broad community feedback.
Based on this evidence and considering the physical nature of the sport, the Sex & Gender Participation Policy aims to prioritise safety and fairness in competition.
Ice Hockey UK remains committed to supporting all affected players, ensuring they have pathways to continue participating in the sport.
As the National Governing Body, our foremost responsibility is to safeguard the safety and welfare of all participants.
The policy will undergo annual review, and we encourage feedback from the ice hockey community.

So don't worry the petition is asking for something they actually did do already and they are going to review it so it is going to be ignored.

This is the consequence of never saying no to these men. I get that there are countless threatening, emotionally incontinent males in that cohort but perhaps if society had said from the outset, "No, there are only two sexes", "no it's not possible to change sex" and "no men in women's sport" we wouldn't be faced with this interminable whining and moaning. 🙄

I'll admit I haven't read the petition but I have been at a few ice hockey games (outside the UK as it's not really one of 'our' sports here) and it was fucking terrifyingly fast and potentially very violent.

What happens at menopause? Are you immediately banned from playing ice hockey?

It is a fearsome game. I am in a country where it is played. Literally high speed collisions. We never see mixed games or training beyond younger kids.

So they are happy for it to be unsafe for women.

According to one of the signatories 'Scientific studies repeatedly show that transwomen on HRT have no athletic advantage over cisgender women, and in several ways compete at a disadvantage'. Presumably the same 'science' that has 'confirmed again and again that transwomen are women' as per one of the other signatories. That told us then.

I think the person who posted the petition plays for an 'inclusive' ice hockey team. There's someone of that name who's posted it on their Instagram. I wonder if they're worried that they may lose their star players?

It is so frustrating seeing men destroy women’s sports taking places in swimming and cycling. To have activists pushing for inclusion in ice hockey is beyond ridiculous and becomes seriously dangerous.

I'm all for transwomen being allowed to play contact sports. Exercise is good for you and it's really inclusive to have the males of any gender identity playing together. What's not inclusive or fair is for transwomen to be in female sport as they are men. Shame this petition is campaigning for men to harm women like everyone who claims to support trans rights

This is like lining up women to be hurt.
I'm a bit interested in Ice Hockey (not that I know the rules), and for example in Janury at a NHL game between Minnesota and Ottawa, during face-off, one player engineered things so that he was crushing another one straight with his face onto the ice. The other player lost his helmet in the process and had no protection.
The offender got a match ban of several games, losing his income for them, which is then donated to a player's hardship fund.

It wasn't the first time the offender was that aggressive. He could have broken his opponent's neck or back or caused brain injury or skull fractures. This is only one example of many. I don't doubt women play aggressive ice hockey, too, but they are at least physically matched.
Due to receiving the fine, it is confirmed that it was hardly a unfortunate accident; it was intentional. It looked intentional from the videos I checked, too.
