On IWD? Is it April 1st?

SionnachRuadh · 08/03/2025 18:36

Could have been worse. Could have been Eddie Izzard.

BunfightBetty · 08/03/2025 18:37

FGS.

Womanofcustard · 08/03/2025 18:51

Words fail me here.

IwantToRetire · 08/03/2025 18:58

Well she's going to have a hard time as the UK is going to cut overseas aid, which is in fact what many women in other countries need.

Not some over promoted crony of the UK PM swanning around telling them how they should improve themselves.

A bit of a slap in the face to Anneliese Dodds who resigned on principle because of the cuts to overseas aid.

" ... The government is supporting stability overseas to help deliver these milestones. In her role as Envoy, Harriet Harman will coordinate efforts across the globe to ensure women and girls are empowered and have their rights protected, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, access to education, and freedom from gender-based violence. ... "

Not forgetting that HH was part of what was NCCL and is now Liberty who advised women's groups they couldn't be women only as it was against men's human rights. Some socialists never change their spots£

Can I also add another slice of PIE?

Lark1ane · 08/03/2025 19:38

Starmer must be worried about the FWS result. Getting his chess piece in place.

HermioneWeasley · 08/03/2025 19:40

You’ve got to be kidding me

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 08/03/2025 19:43

PIE with fucking cream.

Growlybear83 · 08/03/2025 20:15

The same Harriet Harman who always told her constituents how much she supported comprehensive education and they should be sending their children to the local comp, but sent at least one of her sons to one of the most super selective grammar schools in the country.

ResisterOfTwaddleRex · 08/03/2025 22:33

Don't girls need protection from particular adults?

Toseland · 09/03/2025 00:19

This is trolling - wtf?!
Not happy.

UtopiaPlanitia · 09/03/2025 04:38

People like Harman always land high profile jobs - she’s related to aristocrats and related to other politicians like David Cameron. Not for Harman ignominy or regret: nope, she’ll always be given a chance, irrespective of her consistent choosing of ideologies that are damaging to women and children.

She’s the type of person who always lands on her feet.

highame · 09/03/2025 08:57

I would say I'm gobsmacked, but that would be daft because she was always going to land this sort of role. Believe we have threads (from a few years ago) to that effect.

endofthelinefinally · 11/03/2025 09:51

Anyone who supported PIE has no business being in government IMO, but it seems to be perfectly acceptable in Westminster. Some people seem to be teflon coated.

Keeptoiletssafe · 11/03/2025 10:09

I hope, as she goes around the world championing women and girls, she sees that aid agencies put girls’ toilets in schools. Separate sex toilets meant girls would come to school and be educated.
Perhaps she could learn from this and bring this policy back here.

ItsCoolForCats · 11/03/2025 10:16

How long will she be in this role? I'm trying to find an upside, so I'm wondering if it will keep her out of the running for chair of the EHRC when Baroness Faulkner steps down in November.
