The Irish Times is celebrating '25 Brilliant Irishwomen' today, which inevitably includes a biological male called Lydia Foy.
Because of course, there are only 24 brilliant women in Ireland, so they had to make up numbers somehow😡

I’ve marked IWD by writing to TD Sinead Gibney who spoke this week about the underrepresentation of minority women - ethnic minority women, disabled women and YES you’ve guessed it, trans women - amongst the ‘homogenous’ 23% female makeup of the Dáil. The implication is that women aren’t doing enough to be inclusive. Outrageous to include trans women in a discussion on how there aren’t enough women elected, and ignoring the sex-specific barriers that stand in women’s way.

Happy IWD! So grateful for all the support here. Also don't feel I can be openly GC at work - although I was so close to it this week - but making progress with the schools at last.

I saw that too. 24 brilliant women and one man with dysphoria.

.. with a boner

I wish I were as brave as you. As much as I wanted to stick my head above the parapet I'm having a bad time of it right now and I just couldn't face it. How pathetic is that? Sad

It's not pathetic at all! Sorry if my post sounded as if I was digging at you, I was not at all. I am being brave with my friends but not at work. I work at a totally captured place. A very angry trans activist works in the equality team and when someone else I knew gently pushed back against something that wasn't even that controversial (menopausal related) he went on a massive rant about terfs and transphobes and since then no one says anything. I still don't have pronouns in my signature. That's my one defiance and I know it must drive that particular person crazy. He posted about pronouns day last year and respecting pronouns and how everyone should have them in their signature. It got zero likes as an article which gave me some satisfaction. It's not worth me getting aggro at work. I think maybe I'm just lucky that so far my friends have all agreed with me. Bar one, but even she didn't fall out with me, we've just silently agreed to disagree. Anyway, sorry @RachelsTrifle if I made you feel like I was getting at you. Not at all, it's scary. Ridiculous that it's got to this stage, but unfortunately women pushing back get the most threats. X
