I think she's found something she is good at and which pays her well. If you read trans forums there are endless complaints about how her company treated people just as a source of income rather than patients so I think she really doesn't care about people

I can’t make up my mind as to whether she’s a true believer or a sociopath who’s happy to make money from vulnerable people.

She seems to be mainly fixated on making money. Before she jumped on the trans bandwagon, she was involved in something called 'shadow prescribing', which meant that Americans could get drugs at the cheaper UK price instead of paying the normal rate in the US. This is from 2014.

British pharmacy chain launches online drugstore for Maine consumers

Customers must fill out a health questionnaire on the site, which will be reviewed by a U.K. physician with 20 years of experience, Dr. Helen Webberley. If Webberley finds no problems, she will recreate each prescription for the U.K., O’Brien said.

There are lots of threads about the Webberleys and their various money-making activities.

This one has lots of links.

A British pharmacy chain has launched an online drugstore in Maine, taking advantage of a controversial first-in-the-nation law that allows Maine

Wow!!! 🤯 That’s outrageous behaviour on their part.

Interview can be seen here. Absolutely chilling.

"proper experts" - the ones that agree with me.
Reminds me of Sir Humphrey in Yes Minister getting very angry when his Minister Jim Hacker talked to the "wrong experts". Only that was funny not horrifying.

It's great that you can 'watch' the radio these days. Interesting body language.

WorriedMutha · 04/03/2025 18:12

He is one of the only journalists (maybe the only) on top of his brief. He doesn't take any shit. I loved him refusing to be corrected on calling the patient a girl who wants to be a boy. HW kept saying boy. He kept saying cross sex hormones when she kept reverting to correct gender hormones. He hit her with Keira Bell. He contradicted her suicide assertion. All she had was WPATH and he rubbished that. Any other journo would have been a walkover.

Fenlandia · 04/03/2025 18:15

It's amazing hearing her still maintain that puberty blockers are fully reversible despite all the evidence to the contrary.

TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2025 09:59

This woman is absolutely insane. Why is anyone giving her airtime? And wasnt she struck off?

No, her husband was. She was suspended and investigated, but cleared on appeal (from memory I think the judgement was critical but found her actions didn't merit being struck off).

But she didn't revalidate, so her licence laspsed.

AshKeys · 05/03/2025 13:12

She also has a criminal conviction for running an unlicensed clinic doesn’t she?

WorriedMutha · 05/03/2025 14:20

Presumably she can't work as a doctor if she didn't revalidate? Is she essentially a business owner now?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/03/2025 14:25

Just watched this straight after listening to the Tortoise Radio interview with HW here; https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0kslf6d It was released on BBC Sounds a couple of weeks ago but I think it must have been recorded last year. Polly Curtis is a much softer interviewer than Andrew Neil, and managed to stay on the fence about gender issues through seven episodes about GIDS, but she sounds aghast by the end at what she's heard from HW.

Dr W makes my skin crawl, I have to say. So glad AN ended by asking her how much money she's making out of this.

I think that is all she has been for a while. A profiteer.

WorriedMutha · 05/03/2025 14:57

I think you need to supply feedback from about 15 colleagues for the revalidation process. She might have struggled to find enough that aren't actual charlatans.
