The Tavistock podcast. I'm speechless re The Gender GP

I'm on the final episode of The Tavistock: Inside the Gender Clinic. Most of it was what I expected. Shocking but still. But this is the time I've really heard any information about The Gender GP.
I don't think I have any words to explain how I felt listening to Helen Webberly. I was actually walking down the street when I was listening and much have looked a bit bonkers by my facial expressions and exclamations.
How is it allowed to happen? How is she allowed to provide a service that basically involves no assessment, has no evidence behind it, just that a child says that they are the opposite sec and that is enough.
My god, it's awful.

It is awful. I still can't "compute" people / organisations who I once thought were ethical promoting the gaslighting, drugging, surgically mutilating and mentally abusing of children and young people by telling them their bodies are flawed but all this will "cure" them.

I listened to this when Tortoise originally released it. I take it that you have come this via BBC Sounds OP? I agree it is horrifying and am glad that the BBC bought it. But Gender GP are a very different org to then- no longer in the UK, very little (if any) shared care with UK GPs and poorly viewed even by their trans patients (see the transgender UK reddit). Still horrifying but I think rather less influential than before. Thank goodness.

Look up Ez Butler. Used gender Gp and was operated on, terrifyingly swiftly.
