A man raped a woman.

we need to protect ourselves from people like this - he already had previous convictions as a man

@WilfredsPies yes. The title has been changed now which is good. Sorry, should have expressed myself more clearly. As you were.

No problem. And my apologies to you for making incorrect assumptions about your reasons for reporting.

Thank you. The Daily Mail is the worst offender for obsessing about the method which goes totally against the Samaritans guidelines. It’s even in the bloody link.

As the judge can correctly refer to the person, why can't the newspaper?

I’ve reported this thread. Was the title really necessary? Can you not do your gloating in such a way as not to cause trauma to others?

Edit: deleted own post

I'd sooner have seen him tried, convicted, sentenced, and banged up in a (obviously male) prison for a long time.

Why? That would have cost us a fortune and he’d be, based on the statistics, overwhelmingly likely to reoffend once he’d got out.

TheCatsTongue · 27/02/2025 13:20

He will never be a risk to anyone ever again. And with these crimes (and he had already proven) they are serial re-offenders.

He tried to play the trans card, that failed and so he had nothing left to escape prison.

What a shame.

Its natural not to feel sympathy for a child abuser and rapist.
I can't help but feel there should have been a better outcome to this person's life. There's many clear signs of different mental issues throughout the story. This person needed help a long time before they commited those crimes.
I can't help but wonder if we stopped accepting and pandering to all these mental issues e.g. "bring you whole self to work" middle age men turning up in fishnets and high heels, that people might actually start to get the mental help they need to get through life. I yearn to return to the times when men going through a mid life crisis just went out and bought a motorbike instead of cosplaying a prostitute in public.
It's one thing to be cruel to a person and mock them, but surely we can be firm and polite and explan why it's no ok for any of the women in the office to dress like that to work, so by the same standard it's not ok for you to do it either. I don't care how authentic it makes you feel.
The pandering isn't helping people with mental issues, it's setting them up for failure. To be respectful but firm surely is better for the recipient that being told flaunting their paraphillias in public is stunning and brave.
There's a lot of people who need mental help out there, and encouraging them to indulge their mental issues is hurting them not helping them. Then they go on to hurt others.
In my opinion if the man in this story had mental help and support going right back throughout his life that there's a good chance that he, and those he hurt would have had much better life outcomes. Being kind is not indulging mental difficulties but helping people address and get through the mental challenges they face.
This story is like a little microcosm of today's wider society to me. There's warning signs all over that things are going wrong, and instead of fixing problems we are all told the problems are good things that should be celebrated.
