Apologies if there is already a thread, I couldn't see one.

I have been following the case and the details are just horrifying.

It seems that multiple men senior to her in rank and age had sexual relationships with her that sound quite exploitative and others actually assaulted her.

At least one incident was reported and batted away.

Leading to her feeling unable to report her manager who sent her over 3000 messages in one month. And she still had to have overnight work trips away with him.

Her suicide is just a tragedy.

BBC article. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp8v1lxvpp8o

It is completely horrific.

'Mr Mason sent Gunner Beck more than 4,600 messages confessing his feelings for her, and showed her a 15-page "love story" he had written, detailing his "fantasies about her".'

Yeah, thanks, I'd been looking at The Times reportage and couldn't figure out share tokens.

Her messages are heartbreaking - she is so obviously trying to deal with it alone in a mature reasonable way. Completely failed by her chain of command. She'd learned she wouldn't be listened to.

The head of the army said he was disgusted by it all and they announced 2 separate zero-tolerance drives 🙄 surely the point of those is you only do it once?

I have found reading about this case, completely chilling. She must have felt so alone and overwhelmed. She looked so young and fragile as well. The sexual exploitation of her is sadly not a surprise, in that pumped up ultra alpha environment. The sinisterness and unrelenting barrage of messages from her superior must have felt terrifying, and her attempts at trying to deal with the situation are heartbreaking, considering the power imbalance at play. There are some absolutely fucked up men in our army. It's scary. I don't think anything will change, sadly. They will probably be at war soon, seeing the way things are playing out globally atm, so hopefully that will stop them terrorising one of their own. The men that did this to her, and those who stood by and did fuck all, are fucking traitors.

I'm actually quite unimpressed that there appear to have been no senior or senior-ish women officers that she could have gone to. What's that all about?

RightOnTheEdge · 21/02/2025 22:31

It's absolutely terrible. She was let down so badly.

My dd14 has just joined the army cadets and is loving it. She has started saying "if I join the army," and it's already a scary thought but then this story has absolutely chilled me.

Poor Jaysley was so young and must have felt so desperate and alone.
It's outrageous that she felt this was her only option!

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 21/02/2025 22:45

@PonyPatter44 one article I read in The Times said that after one officer who was 43 (!!! She was 18/19.....) got her alone, told her he'd been waiting for this, kissed her and put his hand between her legs.... she reported it to the equivalent of HR and the complaint was handled by a woman who was I think a major.

That woman gave evidence saying she "hadn't understood the complaint as an accusation of sexual assault"

I mean wtf

Jesus. Not fit to be in HR, not fit to be in the Army, and CERTAINLY not fit to be in any position of authority. Makes me very glad that my DDs autism meant she couldn't join up.

It truly sounds horrifying.

I agree 100%. I hope all those involved in this disgusting persecution end up in prison.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 22/02/2025 05:59

It's an awful story and sadly just the tip of a very murky iceberg in the armed forces - who of course have embraced the "men in women's spaces" ideology with alacrity and lots of money .

And these are the men who are supposed to defend us from Putin. God help us. They'll have to take their hands off their dicks and their young women recruits to pick up a gun soon.
