Trump administration 'pressuring Romania to lift restrictions on Andrew Tate'

... the Financial Times reports that the Tates’ case was brought up by US officials in a phone call with the Romanian government last week.

The case was then brought up again by Donald Trump’s special envoy Richard Grenell when he met the Romanian foreign minister at a conference in Munich, several sources told the FT.

Another source told the newspaper a request was made to return the brothers’ passports and allow them to travel while they wait for court proceedings to end.

Mr Grenell has previously shown his support for the Tate brothers on X. At the start of February, he posted on X that Romania was the “latest example” of how “USAid programs were weaponised against people and politicians who weren’t woke”.

High profile and another state keeping their property and repatriation of citizens

Pro-Slave keeping and pro-Sex selling may not be the best way to stick it to the Woke Man

What I dont understand, not just about Tate (who would expect anything better from Trump) is why so many countries seem to be accepting that Trump as President of the USA can just demand something and it be accepted!

Why dont they all just laugh at him?!

Making pimps and rapists great again.

This is another proof, if you needed one, of how awful, sexist, misogynistic, contemptuous of the rule of law the trump administration is.

Echobelly · 18/02/2025 17:29

Well I hope they tell him to fuck off as this concerns Romanian law

MissyB1 · 18/02/2025 17:36

Oh but Trump and Musk are the saviours of women aren't they? Or so some feminists keep telling us...

Of course they are actually mysogynistic dictators so it doesn't surprise me that Trump is a Tate fan.

No. No feminists ‘think trump and musk are the saviour of women’.

However women who expect equal social, political and economic rights (how do you define feminists?), are happy that trump has stopped men competing in women’s sports and stopped men entering women’s spaces. For example.

We know he’s a misogynistic sexist pig, but after the last few years of gender woo and misogynistic linguistic gymnastics, people are happy (relieved) he’s shut it down.

I cant now find the article (sorry) but it was written by someone who knew Trump when he was supposedly being such a brilliant business man (nore likely going bankrupt). And the point he made was that Trump (not unlike many others) genuinely believes or has never questioned that the correct order of things, personal, political, business etc., is that white men are by rights in charge.

For him this may just be a personal belief but it tallies with the increasingly powerful Christian fundamentalists who feel they (or the men) are God's chosen ones. Where naturally men are in charge, and may "transgress" but it doesn't matter because they are the "natural" leaders.

These men really do think that things like equality whether sex, race or class, are not just not important, as they are totally against the "natural" order of things.

At a point in history where we have any number of improvements to health, technology, etc., we are being governed by men who believe in basically cave man values.

Quite. This has nothing to do with the US whatsoever.

I had exactly that thought when Hegseth announced to a room of generals and senior politicians that 'There's a new sheriff in town'. A collective snort of derision would have been great.

And Trump has shown that there's no point in trying to stay on the right side of him, you might as well take the piss as he's going to rip up the rulebook and screw you over anyway.
So - Gulf of America? Ha ha ha.

New sheriff in town? Ha ha ha ha. Priceless! Tell us another one!

AgnesX · 18/02/2025 18:14

Hopefully Romania will tell them, diplomatically of course, to sod off.

Would these feminist be the pro sex selling so Tate supporing TWAW feminist types?
The look away from the sex offender flashing women and girls feminists?

Other feminists see that some good and some bad changes will happen

But as a rule actual feminist dont believe in the Great Male Saviours (its kind of implied in the "fem" bit)

Treaclewell · 19/02/2025 12:42

I don't think we have any evidence that these unmen have cave man values.
We haven't any evidence of the values cave men had, but they were successful as a group in difficult circumstances which implies a more cooperative style.
On the other hand, a gang of males burst out of the steppes and in a very short time replaced most of the Y chromosomes in Europe with theirs, and bossman styles of organisation. Now theirs are the values we are having to deal with. Can't remember what they are called.

OutsideLookingOut · 19/02/2025 16:01

This is terrible. Sadder too that there are more men who want to hurt women and now will feel further emboldened. One can be gender critical but think that the enemy of my enemy is not my friend.

TempestTost · 20/02/2025 22:14

Is Tate an American citizen? If so, it's not really unusual that his government would be looking out for his interests in a foreign prison - even if he is guilty as all heck.

Zofloramummy · 20/02/2025 22:18

He was born there and then left as a child I believe. He doesn’t have enough residency years to claim citizenship.

US citizenship is by birth on US soil.
Even if his parents are non-US citizens at the time of his birth

IwantToRetire · 21/02/2025 00:48

Andrew Tate holds at least three citizenships, including British citizenship, Romanian citizenship by naturalization, and US citizenship through his father. Born to a British citizen mother, Tate is a dual American-British citizen, but he claims to hold up to seven citizenships in total.

This report chilled me more than any other news report re trump and his administration

AnSolas · 21/02/2025 06:52

Tate is a US citizen and he made the "mistake" of boasting that he has paid off or could pay off the [(edit) Romanian] police. Thats never a good idea as when stuff like that makes international headlines any future dealing with the police and justice system political.

He has duel citizenship and from memory his key "driver" for that was how corrupt the justice system was. And in US diplomatic terms Local passport trumps US when it comes to Local law.

As a Romanian citizen the local authority can prevent him leaving via citizen him passing their passport control so that is also internal US political issue.

The passports (which are the property of the US State) could be put in a diplomatic bag and handed over to the white house if Romania choose.

They could go all out on USA passport are the best but not likely to put boots on the ground for a bloke who chose to swear allegiance to another flag.

So is the US administration willing to pay for him to be allowed out?
And if so how much is he and his porn /pimp PR worth?

BezMills · 21/02/2025 06:57

I also think the Romanians should tell Trump to jog on and mind his own business.

AnSolas · 21/02/2025 07:15

The Romanians now have a tradable asset (with political blackmail attached).

And the US is their arms dealer and US bases will be good for base localised economies
