That's it really.

There was a transman in last year's boxing, wasn't there?

If there was, it's a good sign that any protests are about fairness not 'transphobia'. What was protested was two men, with intersex conditions which didn't prevent them having gone through male puberty, taking part in the women's contest.

Just checked - Filipino boxer Hergie Bacyadan competed in the women's 75kg category in Paris. Quite correctly for a transman who hasn't taken hormones.

A few people tried to bring it up as a gotcha in the Lin/Kalif discussion. 'Why are you so upset about the women competing when you're not bothered about the man?'. Which showed they reallly didn't understand what they were talking about.

Woman with a short hair cut, and ridiculous opinions you mean.

New acronym landing WWROAW!

So, today may be interesting. The candidates may not say much in their presentations but I wonder if the press questions will get things kicking off discussion wise.

Just a reminder:

The IOC membership will meet tomorrow, Thursday 30 January, at Olympic House, Lausanne, for a presentation by the candidates for the IOC presidency.

This will be followed by media interactions from 11:30-13:30 CET, which will be streamed live here:

only incidental really but the pictures I've seen of that athlete do make me a little dubious (in terms of forearm thickness and so on) that they've been drug free their entire lifetime. I don't think even Olympic standard testing is capable of shedding much light on what chemicals an athlete was taking months or especially years ago.

Drug abuse can be pretty widespread in sport (and in some sports in particular) and anabolic steroids have variable detection rates ranging from a few days or weeks after use to several months. My weightlifting DS thinks that people can game the system quite effectively.
