Gary and his team of ball shufflers will not be answering the question that is being asked over and over.

When I think of the lack of backbone that Lineker has on this compared with the courage that someone like Sharron Davies or Martina Navratilova has displayed I'm ashamed of him.

Maybe he's waiting until a group of women say they've been sexually harassed by a bloke in a pink wig with an erection.

Maybe do another crisp advert. Do some woolly talk for the Guardian on "fairness and unfairness and balance"

How can Gary not feel embarrassed or ashamed by the fact he has asked a question, seeking topics of discussion, but then refuses to engage with the one topic that keeps coming up over and over again? And he knows it will keep coming up because it does every time he asks? I cringe on his behalf.

Your silence is deafening, Gary. You only dare to dip your toe in controversy (eg comparing Tory policy to Nazi Germany) when you know there’s zero risk to you - just a lot of back-slapping and ‘good on yer, mate’! Easy pickings. It’s well worth breaking BBC impartiality rules when you can become the hero of the hour.

Not so straightforward is it, when women’s sports are going up the swanny but you don’t dare speak up for us as it’s too ‘divisive’ an issue. Yeah. You won’t get an outpouring of love and support from your mates if you dip your toe in those waters. Far better to look the other way.

And no, I’m not comparing the two issues - cruel immigration policy vs damage to women’s sports. I’m comparing how Gary’s response to these two very different topics is all tied up in whether he can be seen to be a hero, or not.

Sometimes I do like Gary Lineker. When the Daily Mail were childishly provoking him about why if he liked refugees so much he had never let one stay at his house he just calmly responded that he had done but never felt the need to advertise the fact.

Other times he is bit sickly. When he introduced a piece about the lack of human rights in Qatar and the controversy of holding a World Cup there, he never mentioned that he had worked for Bein Sports, a TV station owned by the Qatari royals.

What's the background? What is the question he's not answering?

Men who id as women playing alongside biological women in Football. The FA think it's fine - there's a lot of groundswell support against this view
