LGB Alliance attended a bizarre session of the Women and Equalities on Puberty Blockers

... At the end of the day, WESC plays no role of any importance in the plans for a trial. Nonetheless, it is incomprehensible that it invited speakers as biased as Professor Butler (formerly of GIDS) and Professor Giordano (WPATH) to testify. In doing so, the Committee created the impression that it seeks to undermine the Cass Review.

We consider that reprehensible and wish to restate our position that it is above all LGB teenagers who are being harmed by the prescription of GnRH analogues. We are highly sceptical that any clinical trial, research trial, or study of puberty blockers could be conducted in an ethical manner. ...

The WESC are a bunch of captured nitwits who have thank goodness no authority

The WESC continues to be an expensive embarrassment, unfit for purpose. It's biased political stunts like this, deliberately trying to undermine Cass and eradicate safeguarding for this group of vulnerable children and young people that highlight the depressing levels of student politics far too prevalent in aspects of this government.
Wonder whether Streeting will "have a word"?

That is bizarre. I wonder who it is in the WESC who is or are the intractable transactivists who are STILL trying to sterilize gay children.

Women and Equalities is such a misnomer, but then there are so many of these committees and bodies that have been targeted by transactivism that they long since ceased to function.

I wish autocucumber would stop trying to put a space in the word transactivism. Trans is not an adjective and I am truly tired of capture in so many arenas.

All pro-puberty blockers. The safeguards listed by Butler are meaningless because the children he is treating do no know what it will mean to have no/reduced sexual function and to be infertile.

There was an earlier thread about this.

Labour has only put forward MPs to sit on this Committee who are pro Trans. Even the Telegraph wrote about it.

And of the few remaining seats the Tories gave theirs to Rosie Duffield. Which is a nice gesture but wont change the direction of the committee.

re the earlier thread about the meeting, I just thought I would post this as I wanted the thread title to be picked up by search engines.

I thought the WESC member who referred a Swedish study about bones breaking was particularly out of her depth.

There is part of me that feel too many people have taken it upon themselves to write up this session of the WEC, without addressing the basic issue of corrupting the role of a Committee by stuffing it with obedient compliers.

But thought this thoughtful write up by Transgender Trend with quotes from Keira Bell well worth reading for their analysis. https://www.transgendertrend.com/wesc-hearing-puberty-blockers
