I was looking at the Jewish Chronicle just now.

in passing I noticed Raffi Berg of the BBC has had death threats, owing to claims he is a mossad stooge and has improperly influenced BBC coverage of current affairs. Berg is apparently looking into legal action against those who’ve printed stuff impugning him.

Our very own Little Owen Jones is mentioned in this context, as one of the allegedly problematic writers in question.

It’s interesting how misogyny and Jew-hatred have united in the last couple of years.

God, is he still going? Has he left twitter now...or is he still active on it?

It’s “Right Side of History” mentality isn’t it? Jumping on the latest bandwagon of outrage to show how righteous he is, with little thought to the long term consequences of his chosen latest strand of support.

That's actually much more balanced than it used to be. These days you can find some videos not about Israel-Gaza. About a year ago they were much rarer.

ISTR he obsessively and zealously edited Wikipedia in its early days re Israel.

Ye Gods, looking at the YouTube account, there’s one called “Nicola Sturgeon destroys anti-trans arguments”. October 2022 - probably when she said safeguarding concerns re the GRA were not relevant. Doesn’t seem to be one from early 2023 called “Nicola Sturgeon unable to say if rapist Adam Graham should go in a womens’ prison”.
Didn’t watch it. Wouldn’t give him even one click.

Talking about an ongoing genocide is not being 'obsessed '. I don't agree with OJ on the trans issue, but on the disgusting murder of Palestinians he is spot on.

The point is that he's an activist masquerading as a journalist. Clearly he doesn't have the professional standards to resign because of that but one would hope it might cause his employer to reflect.

From my experience of LOJ, he'd be genuinely horrified at the suggestion that he's got a problem with Jews. But I could say the same about Jeremy Corbyn or George Galloway.

But I also suspect, in common with Corbyn and Gallows and most left activists, LOJ doesn't know any Jews who are in the mainstream community. He'll have convinced himself that fringe extremists like Tony Greenstein are somehow representative.

Not sure how you'd explain his problem with women though, except that it's very easy for activist types to create bubbles for themselves.

I don't read OJ's journalism so I don't know if this applies to him, but talking about the disgusting murder of one group of people to the exclusion of talking about the disgusting murder of any other groups of people as if they were the only group of people being disgustingly murdered can come across as a bit obsessive.

He's not very good at thinking in more than one dimension.

And yes, in common with lots of others in his circle, he does get weirdly obsessive about this one issue.

'One group of people'.... Well that group have had more children massacred than all the wars worldwide in the last 4 years (as of March 2024!!). It might be unpalatable to you, but genocide always matters.

Over 11,500 children killed in Yemen alone, not to mention all the other conflicts - maybe they weren't killed in a sufficiently short timescale to bother people as much.

It's as if someone rolls a bandwagon in front of LOJ and he just can't resist jumping on. Lack of any knowledge surrounding the issue is no bar, in his mind, to having Very Loud Opinions and being quite sure that he is OTRSOH.

Jones has some twattish opinions, but anyone insinuating that he's somehow responsible for other people making antisemitic death threats strikes me as in the same league as the people who think JK Rowling shares the blame for trans people being murdered. We can do better than that.
