Call for return to “masculine” values in the workplace

I have to own up and say I did a little cheer when I heard a discussion on the radio today about how some men are feeling a bit blue and are finding it hard to negotiate the workplace because they feel that toxic traditional male values - like being more aggressive and assertive - are looked down on, and they don’t feel that their contributions are valued and respected, and feel that an emphasis on workplaces promoting listening, collaboration and valuing other peoples skills and contributions ( traditionally seem as traditional female workplace values ) plays against them.

Seems like we are getting it right sisters! 🍾

Just to say, we will listen to you guys, and will value your contributions, but please learn to take your turn and accept that you don’t always have the best ideas .

Mark Zuckerberg did a recent interview with Joe Rogan in which he stated that he believed masculine energy needed to return to corporate culture and that aggression could be a good thing.

The interview is over two hours long so here’s a short clip of what he said:

And here’s the full interview:

Every day there's some new reason to despair about mankind, the fuckers. So they find they're not as successful at work poor babies because they're expected to listen and work collegiately not just dictate and bully... my heart bleeds

From what I can see in the discussion taking place online, some men have decided that the lack of success in EDI (DEI) attaining the business and social objectives that were promised by its adherents should all be laid at the feet of women, for some reason.

Although, I strongly remember both male and female promoters of EDI policies being visible and well-known.

So it would seem that to push back against the overreach of EDI, certain men are labelling the failure as being the ‘feminisation of culture/society’ and are declaring that only masculine energy and virtues can save the day.

Tedious sexism really. Academics and activists (of both sexes) with an incorrect social theory got corporations and organisations and politicians to buy into this theory as a way to transform society, the theory didn’t work and made things worse, so…..blame women???

In my view, postmodernism is the reason the theory was wrong, not ‘feminine’ virtues (whatever they are).

Agreed. Whatever ideology is dominating at any given moment in history, the Rules of Misogyny abide as the bedrock and governing principles.

At times, I wonder if the RoM need to be integrated with Lifton's 8 Criteria for Thought Reform to explain what is happening. Useful as Lifton is, RoM pretty much standalone, in perfect and succinct clarity, in most circumstances.

It's the spread of Incel 'culture' into the workplace, isn't it? Human beings behaving civilly towards each other = 'feminisation' and therefore unfair to men😡

In the late 00s, you couldn’t avoid articles extolling the virtues of diversity from Harvard Business School and CIPD and other business journals. A lot of them were written by people from corporate backgrounds (both male and female) who had implemented their ideas and seen tangible benefits.

When corporations and organisations en masse decided to implement the idea of Diversity, what they got wrong about the idea was letting postmodernism and academia define what diversity entailed via the idea of power/oppression hierarchies and they forgot to emphasise that diversity of background/opinion/outlook is equally important to diversity of physicality.

So, I’m glad a change of mind about the way these policies and ideas were implemented is happening but I’m not happy about women getting the blame for something that both sexes cacked up.

Exactly what do the men who are complaining want to change…should meetings turn into fight clubs and the man with the best fists gets to determine departmental strategy for the next fiscal quarter?!?!?
