Hi, I'm GC after having read and learned so much on here over the last few years. My DSis is TWAW but also accepts she's not that well informed about it, she's quite empathic and hates the idea of anyone being distressed.
We managed to have quite a gentle conversation about it recently (hard for me as I feel strongly about it all)
Fair play to her, she's now looking for research and evidence about things I mentioned. She's asked me to help her. I know I've read on here before that the vast majority of TW keep a penis but does anyone have any good evidence to support this. She's also interested in data re: regret rates. Please does anyone have any good supporting, validated evidence/ data for the GC argument.
I massively don't want to fall out with her and respect her decision but I'd love to be able to provide facts (not things she views as just my opinion)
Please help if you can. Thanks so much.

There are lots of useful links on this thread.

The basic fact is that sex is fixed at conception. Not one sperm producer has changed into an egg producer no matter what the activists say.

If you want to have it all from the actual people who worked at the Tavistock, maybe get her Time to Think by Hannah Barnes.

My DSis is TWAW but also accepts she's not that well informed about it, she's quite empathic and hates the idea of anyone being distressed.

"Anyone"? Does that include women and children or just men? Because TWAW just gives men the right to do what they want regardless of the effect on anyone else. The people most likely to be harmed by this are women and children.

Thanks for the links - I'll have a look and see if I can find what I'm specifically looking for.

The trouble with stats on regret and 'detransition' is largely that the NHS gender services didn't keep records. This was part of the problem!

And when they did they withhold them from reviews.

I find these stats shifted my thinking. 99% of sexual offenders are male and 97% of those subject to rape are female.

Furthermore, a report to parliament cited a Swedish study from 2011 which concluded: 'male-to-females . . . retained a male pattern regarding criminality. The same was true regarding violent crime.’

https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/18973/pdf/

If you put those stats/research together then men who identify as women are just as likely to be a sexual or violent offender as any other man and virtually all sexual offenders are men.

There is a graph which has been shared on Twitter based on an analysis of trans identified men (TIM) in prison which says as a proportion of the TIM population TIM are six times more likely to be sexual offenders than other men but I think this figure isn't sound because the TIM population is very much an estimate and the numbers in prison are still small so it's easy to be statistically inaccurate.

What is frustrating is that some police forces have started recording preferred gender rather than sex of people who have been arrested potentially making it look like women are becoming more violent and committing more sexual offences.

Prison stats also confounded by 'prison onset dysphoria', where men ID as women in order to access more privileges and an easier time in prison.

Regarding regret, the lack of data on this is in itself a scandal IMO.

Cass touches on this at various points in her report. If you do a search for ‘regret’, you will find various bits of info and commentary.

Cass certainly acknowledges “people who have detransitioned, some of whom deeply regret their earlier decisions”. This is in the Dr Cass’ foreword in the report.
