I had a big chat with DD13 yesterday and we talked about inequality for women. She asked if we you ever be equal and I said you had to hope so. We were musing on the why it came about. Touched on strength , childbirth etc
But now I would love some book recommendations please. Any on how inequality started maybe. Societies that were more equal perhaps
thoughts appreciated

Assuming you mean non fiction? These are all on my 6th form reading list and go down very well:

Invisible women - Christina criado Perez
We should all be femininists - Chimamanda adichie (short, based on a ted talk)
Women and power - Mary beard - this absolutely fits your brief, is very readable and thought provoking
Inferior - Angela Saini
The gendered brain

Haven't read but look interesting and on my list
Hunger - Roxanne gay
Laura Bates' books (she also done a good YA book about modern day witch hunt slit shaming)

To add - depends on DD's reading confidence but content wise I'd be fine with all of those from her age too,
