Parliament should accept that the wording and intention of the current SSEs in the EA undermines that rights of the majority of society to organize and provide services based on the differing needs of men/males and women/females.
For instance where a public or work toilet is labeled male or female it absolutely means the facility is for those of that biological sex. If a single sex facility is not required they should be labeled mixed sex rather than gender which refers to social stereotypes so that there is no confusion.
Single Sex Exemptions should be reversed so as to provide for the very few occasions that the naturally grouping by sex at birth, will not be impacted by those with a GRC which gives them the status of being “legally” the opposite sex to the one they are born. Ie when the inclusion of someone who is “legally” a sex rather than biologically that sex will not impact on the purpose of the service and the comfort of those of the biological sex.
Parliament should accept that it can not create laws that are effectively trying to socially engineer a change to the way society naturally organises and creates mutually supportive services based on the shared experience of those of the same sex.
